This site will not display in HTMl. All other URLs that I go to work. It also works with I.E. and on another computer on the same router.

It acts like popups are being blocked but there is no menu bar to over ride that operation.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...

2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

3. If needed, remove the site's cookies in this dialog

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

more options

I have cleared the cookies, and the cache and reloaded several times using the reload icon. Will try the C+S+r to see if that make a difference. No difference. I think there is a glitch in my browser on this machine.

I am seriously considering deleting it and reinstalling from scratch, but have to make a word file listing all the URLs I have bookmarked and the passwords.

See this to learn how to properly back up and restore your Firefox personal data.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Silly to use a Word file for bookmark URL's, Firefox won't import or restore a Word file, you would have to manually copy'n'paste those URL's into Firefox and save each one as new bookmark. Similar for username / passwords.

more options

That is what I do when I delete the browser. Thanks for the URL. I do save the application data files and put them back, but have lost passwords and bookmarks previously.

more options

I also tried creating a new profile, I use the profile manager. There may be a solution in the about file, but it can be hard to fined.

more options

I can not remember the name of the configuration file, it has been a long time since I used it.

more options

I can not get the about.config to run either.

more options

about:config (with a colon instead of a period) will let you edit preferences, but so far I don't think we're close to know what preference to edit...

If you are expecting a pop-up and not getting one, have you turned off the pop-up blocker here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Content

If you have any security-related add-ons, those may have their own pop-up blockers.

more options

I forgot about the colon. I turned off the popup blocker also. My other machine shows when there are pop ups blocked so that is one reason I think there is a glitch in the browser.

I am running superantispyware.com but that has not caused a problem in the past. I also have adaware but it is not running normally.

more options

Does Javascript work normally? Many sites will tell you if you have Javascript disabled, so usually you will know. If you run the NoScript add-on make sure to check its menu to see whether you are blocking any scripts on the site.

Could I return to your original question for a moment. What do you mean by this: "This site will not display in HTMl." Do you see plain text? Gibberish? Blank page?

more options

I will have to look closer at the javascript, but did not see any messages. I see plain text, but it is distributed across the page as if it were in a html display.

Here is an example:

If you go to schwab.com you will probably see a proper display. And this is the only URL that I am having a problem with. WC3.org says there are a lot of errors on the page. But it does work elsewhere.

more options

Could part of it be blocked images? You could check the following dialog:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Content

To the right of "Load images automatically" click the "Exceptions" button and unblock any sites that shouldn't be blocked. Does that make any difference?

This article has some additional suggestions: Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should.

more options

I already did that, one of the first things I did. I have been through the list on the mozilla site. I have to get to bed, it is 23.02 here.

more options

Maybe tomorrow you could reply with an attached screen shot showing what you see?

more options

O.K. I should have thought of that. Will be back tomorrow.

more options

Here is what I see, I do not seem to be able to get a screen shot. At the end is some of the page source showing the HTML .

As I said, the page will not display as HTML, I only get text, but all other URLs that I go to work. Firefox just does not seem to like this page. I have spent hours with this. I will probably delete Firefox and re install it. I just can not understand why only this page on this computer does not work properly.

Usually reinstalling Firefox doesn't have much effect on this kind of issue because your personal settings folder is preserved. To check how the site would appear in an uncustomized installation, you could create a new Firefox profile.

With Firefox closed,

Start > Run > firefox.exe -p

Simply create a new profile and start up in it. Then test the site. Any difference?

You can switch back to your regular profile by closing Firefox again and restarting in the profile manager. (More info on the profile manager: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles)

By the way, if you have Firefox set to ask you permission to set a cookie (Options > Privacy > "Keep until: ask me every time"), this setting has been associated with some random website problems. You also could test with cookies allowed for the current session (Options > Privacy > "Keep until: I close Firefox"). If that works, try adding a new second-level domain exception for schwab.com (i.e., without the www).

more options

By the way, I don't find a client_home.htm page, but there is this page: https://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/client_home

But... It looks normal to me.

more options

That is the problem, it looks normal to you, my other machine, and I.E.

I use the profile manager and tried using a different profile, that did not seem to help either.

I do not plan on just reinstalling firefox, but deleting it completely and manually reentering the passwords and the bookmarks from scratch.

I will try the -P option you suggested.

more options

If you keep a copy of your active profile folder, you can recover bookmarks and saved passwords after your reinstall. More info: Recovering important data from an old profile.
