Just recently the sync function stopped syncing open tabs from my phone to my desktop computer. Any advice or suggestions to get them connected again.

Sync allows the phone to see, open, and send tabs that are on the desktop and vice versa. see screenshot Tabs open on one device are not opened on the other devices automagically.
