Log in to sync not working on laptop

I can log in to sync on one of my Mac laptops but not my other. Restarting Firefox and restarting computer doesn’t help. It seems as if I log in as my password is accepted and it then it takes me to the screen where it wants to pair with the Firefox app on my phone but when I go in to preferences -> sync I’m not signed in and pressing the button to log in to sync does nothing. Please help. I have the latest version of Firefox installed.
