Is there any fix to show transparent png background instead of dark gray?

When I try to load a png file with transparent background into firefox 35.0.1, the background appears black. I've already tried Transparent standalone images add-on with no results, including https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-image/reviews/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_content=addons-manager-reviews-link and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-images/reviews/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_content=addons-manager-reviews-link

I also look at the previous question with the same name, from 2015: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1044582#question-reply

Unfortunately after trying to follow every step there, I have the same question as the OP did on 2/3/2015, except that the extension he recommends ( Old Default Image Style: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/ ) and the other two recommended by cor-el ( Transparent standalone images: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-imag/ and Custom Standalone Image Backgrounds: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/custom-image-backgrounds/ ) are all dead links in 2022.
