Still can't block autoplay
I have changed the settings in about:config, and also with options in the tools menu on Firefox, and I am still having problems, specifically with Fox News, but also other sites that allow a video to automatically play and blast audio. It is very disconcerting that there doesn't seem to be a way to stop this from happening. Can you help? I am using Firefox 86.

What settings in about:config did you modify ?
You can look at these prefs on the the about:config page to see what settings work for you to block autoplay.
- media.autoplay.default = 5 [0:allow;1:blockAudible;2:Prompt;5:blockAll]
- media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2
- media.autoplay.allow-extension-background-pages = false
- media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Thank you so much! I changed the default from a 1 to a 5 and changed the policy to 2. I had changed them before, based on what I had read on the internet. It seems now to have worked.
