During class today, Firefox unexpectedly crashed on my Windows 10 PC after downloading a pdf file from my History teacher. Now, when I try to open Firefox, a transparent box quickly appears before disappearing again, not opening Firefox. I have yet to find a solution that has worked.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Firefox wasn't able to be opened in Safe Mode either. Nothing still appears when starting it up.

Were there any crash reports?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

My strange finding is that my Windows Firewall allows for Firefox, but when I checked in my Program Files, I saw that there was not a Mozilla Firefox file there. This is strange because I have the application and have deleted and re-downloaded it a few times.

How about just Firefox? Did you download Firefox from Mozilla?

I redownloaded Firefox from Mozilla and now have the Mozilla Firefox file in my Program Files.

When double clicking on Firefox, a Firefox Safe Mode box quickly opens before closing again. No error messages appear besides a Safe Mode box stating that it quit unexpectedly. I have included an Imgur link of a video of what occurs when I open Firefox. https://imgur.com/a/XClZn8T

Firefox doesn't open when I double click on the icon. Sometimes, a Firefox Safe Mode box will quickly appear, and other times, a box will appear stating that Firefox unexpectedly crashed. There is no direct error message. Here's an imgur link to a video of what happens when I try to open the app: https://imgur.com/a/XClZn8T

Sorry, current forum security sometimes delays the posting of messages. And in turn, we are not notified of those posts.

I can't get http://example.com/ to open in Firefox or in Internet Explorer.

I called for more help.
