Firefox crashing constantly and incredibly unstable

Firefox is crashing almost immediately after loading a page. Sometimes it crashes while loading the page, sometimes I can scroll down or click a link, and then it crashes. Biggest issues are on Reddit. I'm able to browse the Firefox support pages with minimal issues (although it has crashed once or twice).

Crash happens in Safe Mode. (I'm in safe mode right now and it just crashed) I did a FULL clean install about a week ago. (actually did it twice just to be sure)

Not sure what info you need in order to help, but here is some of the crash report from the latest one today.

Also worth mentioning. This started WITH Norton installed. So I deleted Norton to see if that was the cause, and I'm still having the same problem.

I still had crashes after full clean install. Fairly confident I was able to delete every Mozilla related folder and even deleted several registry entries.

Booted my PC in safe mode with network, and NO CRASHES. What does that mean? What are my next steps?

I'd say that GPU is crashing in half of these crashes is due to weak GPU.

Try to setup Firefox to run with the Nvidia GPU.

I ended up doing ANOTHER FULL windows reinstall. Fresh this time, didn't keep any of the old programs or data. I created a NEW used profile (to rule out any corrupt profile issues). I think I was able to get Firefox running on my Nvidia GPU (although, it seems to keep switching itself back to internal GPU. Still crashing.

I really appreciate the input you have provided.

Firefox is still the biggest problem I have on the PC (although not the only problem I'm running in to). I think I'm getting ready to throw in the towel and move on to another browser.

This could be a problem with WebRender. You can check the Graphics section on the about:support page to see whether WebRender is active.

You can look at these prefs on the about:config page page to enable or disable WebRender.

  • gfx.webrender.enabled = false|true
  • gfx.webrender.force-disabled = true|false

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting for changes to take effect.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

I toggled my webrender settings as you mentioned above True>false and false>true. I also disabled hardware acceleration (which I've tried before to not avail) and unfortunately things still crashed.

I've done everything I can to verify my GPU drivers are up to date. Its an Nvidia card, and I used the Nvidia control panelt, and the GeForce experience programs to check to driver updates. Also used windows update to check, and device manager. Says I'm fully up to date. Is there any way of checking beyond those?
