Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

You can use the DNS Lookup tool on the about:networking page to check www.dailymotion.com.

Dear Sirs! Thank you for your time. I tried carefully all your suggestions. All of them but one do not help.

The latest suggestion puts the light to the problem

cor-el wrote:

www.dailymotion.com => 195.8.215.137

whereas at my local system

www.dailymotion.com => 199.59.242.153

which differs from prevous and this address does not respond.

Trying the same at another system in another network, I got different DNS resolution www.dailymotion.com => 85.142.29.248 and this address respond with message included in screenshot below. The meaning of the message is that the site is blocked in my country (Russian Federation).

It seems, different providers substitute different sites which either do not respond (probably random) at all or show blocking message.

What about Chrome, it probably bypass local DNS resolver settings and send queries to their own resolver 8.8.8.8.

It seems, I better reconfigure DNS reslover to use 8.8.8.8 as well. However, now I do not know how to clear out this wrong 199.59.242.153? Clear DNS Cache function for some reason does not help.

Note that Firefox also comes with a DNS over HTTPS feature.

Thank you for suggestion... 1stly it decide that domain name is the URL, 2ndly it decide to check it... Without any notice. I thinked, the text was lost.

Researching the problem deeper, I found that they effectively blocks the sites, replaceing DNS responcies on the fly. Say

C:\Windows\System32>nslookup www (dot) daylymotion (dot) com 8 (dot) 8 (dot) 8 (dot) 8 Server: 8 (dot) 8 (dot) 8 (dot) 8

Name: 7811 (dot) bodis (dot) com Address: 199 (dot) 59 (dot) 242 (dot) 153 Aliases: www (dot) daylymotion (dot) com (Tampered response from Google DNS resolver.)

This is definitely not the Firefox problem. Thank you for suggestion which helps to identify the problem. Thank you again for suggestion on DNS-over-HTTPS. I'l try it in the future.
