Synced Tabs disappeared - is there a way to restore?

Up until recently I was using a 11 year old laptop that was slowing dying. I was finally able to acquire a new computer and get it up and running just before an accident (as if out of a comedy movie - the roommate's cat knocked a full bowl of cereal onto the old laptop) effectively destroyed the old machine. Thankfully, Firefox Sync meant that everything I had been working on appeared when I got the new machine fully functional...until I logged on to Firefox this evening to find my Synced Tabs empty with just a "Want to see your tabs from other devices here? Connect Another Device" message.

The old device is toast...I don't know if it will even turn on again, much less function enough to sign into Firefox. Synced Tabs was also working just fine for a solid week until it just up and disappeared. Is there some way to restore these? I know it's my fault for relying/expecting Sync to always be there and not backing up the links I had open immediately, and this is a mistake I won't make again...but I'd really love to not lose everything I had open.

Thank you very much in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hello, That is probably no longer possible because synced tabs expire automatically in about a week.

Well...that would indeed explain the issue. My fault for not researching how synced tabs worked before relying on them so much. Time to see if a milk-soaked decade-old laptop can boot up long enough to log into Firefox! Thank you very much for the information, Shashank!

It's not your fault. This is a major issue that users should be warned about during installation. Good luck finding the documentation for this issue!

I was regularly manually syncing my account (including tabs) and this weekend I cleared them all in the good ol' way, where you're in an incognito mode, but click on a link your friend sends you and it opens that link in a NEW SINGLE tab... So there I was gonna restore my previous 50+ tabs that I usually have to "watch later...", and all I get is "Connect Another Device"... Great.

What are "synced tabs" according to Firefox then..?

Note that in current releases synced tabs expire in one year (366 days), but that doesn't mean that you can always restore/inspect them connecting to an account.

You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

Close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for possible about pages).
