Every time I open Firefox it brings up a screen as if I am a brand new user starting out for the very first time. The disk image in my downloads folder has long since been deleted, so I'm pretty sure it's not running from that. I went and looked at "application binary" and it gave me a headache, plus there was no indication in the prior "support" replies of what the changes I might or might not observe therein would mean, so I was unmotivated to keep turning Firefox off and on and then checking to see if any of the characters in the very long text string had changed. I seem to have about 10 profiles, none of which have been created by me on purpose. I tried opening a couple of them, and got messages about various updates Firefox wanted to perform, but none of the opening screens had my information loaded. I've just lost a half hour of my life down this rathole this morning, and I still haven't gotten around to completing the search which was the reason I opened Firefox this morning in the first place. Imma have to go back and use Safari I guess, since Safari isn't suffering from "Susan Amnesia"

And bonus, every time I start it I get email saying "New sign-in to Firefox, Firefox on Mac OS X 10.15", so the amnesia extends to the computer I'm using.

Aaaaaand, Facebook keeps sending me alerts because I'm logging in from a location it's never seen before, despite me having logged in previously multiple times using Firefox on this machine.

Hi,

If you go to Finder and hit Shift+Cmd+G and then paste: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/ into the box, what happens? This folder should contain your profile(s).

If it does contain a profile, or many, you should delete all of them as one might be corrupted.

If there are none, some software such as Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection could be preventing the profile from being saved or Firefox might not be in the correct folder. Do you have antivirus software installed and do you see Firefox in the applications folder?

Hope this helps!

This can happen if you run Firefox from within the Disk Image (DMG) file. Make sure Firefox gets installed properly.

Open the Firefox Disk Image file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
