I think the about:config setting "browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML" "True" will cause the saving of bookmark.html to the current profile when FireFox shuts down. I found that in a Help response.

Included in the response was a method of saving bookmark.html to a different location.

I cannot find the that help response and would like to implement a save in another location.

You can set/create these two prefs on the about:config page to make Firefox create an HTML backup when you close Firefox.

  • browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML = true
  • browser.bookmarks.file = "<path>\bookmarks.html"
(full file path including file name)

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
