Firefox hangs when I open a new tab or new webpage. It's really annoying!

Everytime I do the automatic updates this shit happens. I used to go to one of the articles where it gave me instructions on how to reset my preferences, but that thread has since been modified, it now says to delete my pref.js, but that doesn't fix the issue anymore.

So i'm resorting to actually making a god damn account and asking why this shit keeps happening. I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed aswell, but it saved some of my data which I kinda need (bookmarks). That doesn't help.

I know that resetting my preferences back to default every update used to fix it, but I forget how now. Thanks...

Can someone just tell me how to fix it so I can update without having to do all this shit again.

I have only one extension and that is adblockerplus. Not likely the cause as it does this aswell without.

This solved itself somehow. I think just over time it fixes itself, but after an update it will always lag hard when opening firefox or a new tab.

Hi, with out knowing how much ram you have I can not say if that is a issue.

If you use cleaners of any sort that maybe a issue.

REFRESH INSTRUCTIONS Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st:

then

So you have the info for backing up your Bookmarks. The above will create a new Profile where your errors are so you can slip the bookmarks back into the clean profile.

You can also transfer back other things also but you can then transfer the issue back.

To save some aggravation Please open Windows 10 Settings --> System --> About and check your running version 1803 as the next major release is a few weeks away. If your not at 1803 please update : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are at 1803 please keep this info as it is for repair of Windows Registry and download of any corrupted system files ( I have never seen a download so it would be small anyways)

To run the command do the following: 1) Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin). 2) Type Copy/Paste the following command and press Enter: 3) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth 4) Reboot

This what a clean install should look like for future : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 62.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Please Note : Disk Cleanup Please also use MS Defrag once a month.

I have tried the refresh thing, it does nothing, I hope everytime it does, because that would be so much nicer. I have 32 gb of ram, and I do all the necessary routines to maintain a proper computer. I don't have much installed, it's a problem with Firefox. I have 1803 and I don't want to do a clean reinstall because I have fixed this in the past every update by resetting my preferences. Is there any other alternative besides a fresh clean reinstall?

P.S I'm a developer so I understand the majority of things normal users don't.

try this:

type about:config in address bar and accept the warning and search for accessibility.force_disabled double click on it and change the value to 1 OR 0

Didn't fix.

The issue is just your system vs Firefox. Your Profile would be the place to start with a new one and not use anything other than bookmarks to put self back together.

Could things like leaving the above in when does not work, or older tweaks.

New release of WIn 10 coming in a couple weeks.
