Has anyone figured out a way to mimic the functional attributes of Theme Font & Size Changer for toolbars and other tiny stuff in FF 57?

Cannot read my bookmarks toolbar (on the left or up top) when I update; I'm stuck at 56 until there is a fix that actually works on a Mac. Problem is, my eyes can't read FF 57.

Hi pcbjr, please try the method shown in the video:

  • download an empty userChrome.css file
  • move it to the chrome folder
  • Quit/restart Firefox
  • set up for using the Browser Toolbox
  • open the Browser Toolbox to the Style Editor panel
  • click userChrome.css in the left column
  • paste in your rules in the right side
  • close and re-open the Bookmarks Sidebar to check for a change

OK - I stayed at FF 56 so I could use Theme Font & Style Changer; this AM it quit working and the icon is not on my menu bar. Reinstalled TF&SC 56 and no go. Has it been permanently disabled? Mac OS 10.11.6 If so, how do I get my toolbar size to increase and my bookmarks to increase in size so they are readable?

I do not know why it quit working. It shows as compatible with 57 as there is no warning that is not. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/ I can only help you if your going to stay with 1 version as the things that work on 56 are not the same as what will fix 57.

Also there is a fix for : http://money.cnn.com/2018/01/04/technology/spectre-meltdown-cpu-flaws-explainer/index.html in Firefox.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) DO MAC EQUIVALENT Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

All the fixes for and custom is in my previous post to you along with how to do the theme font changer in USSER CHROME

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You can set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 (default is -1) on the about:config page. Adjust its value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) until icons or text looks right. Modifying layout.css.devPixelsPerPx affects user interface and web pages (global zoom).

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

You can look at Zoom Page WE and NoSquint Plus extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

There are work-arounds for Windows, but none of those work on a Mac (10.11).  :~( Need some Mac specific input ...

Or the info is in what I already provided to you for USSER CHROME. It was not given just for nothing. Read.

Maybe I'm missing something, but nothing has worked. Can you provide a Mac specific work-around? Maybe "See Spot run" simplicity? Everything I have tried is Windows specific.

On Mac you can't modify the appearance on the main menu bar (File, Edit, ...), bbut you should be able to modify the toolbars with code in userChrome.css.

Did you try to modify layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to see what effect it has? You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Yes. I have that reset to 2.3. Any bigger gets to be wonky. BUTTTTT - It does nothing to get the bold back in my bookmarks or toolbar - which is the biggest hassle.

All that I have looked up says Usser Chrome works on Firefox. Is a matter of getting/making the folder and copy paste the code as per directions with URL's provided.

To get the bold back you need code in userChrome.css.

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

#navigator-toolbox toolbar,
#bookmarks-view-children,
#historyTree treechildren {
/*  font-size:17px !important; */
 font-weight: bold;
}

It is not that difficult to create userChrome.css if you have never used it.

The first step is to open the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" page and find the button to access the profile folder.

You can find this button under the "Application Basics" section as "Profile Folder -> Show in Finder". If you click this button then you open the profile folder in the Finder. You need to create a folder with the name chrome in this folder (name is all lowercase). In the chrome folder you need to create a text file with the name userChrome.css (name is case sensitive). In this userChrome.css text file you paste the text posted.

My "how to" article should cover both Windows and Mac (and there are separate videos for each):

You know what might help is to make a specific list of the changes you need made so volunteers can address them all together.

It seem that you have fonts at an acceptable size, and now you need the font to be bold for:

  • Bookmarks Toolbar
  • Bookmarks Sidebar (the one that opens/closes with Command+b)

Is everything else okay?

PS - I think I'm a ditz, but I cannot get it to work ...  :~(

All I want is the bold now!

I can't for the life of me get the chrome to let me do it ...

I'd pay a reasonable sum to have Theme Font & Style Changer back ...
