Can anyone recommend any safe add-ons for blocking ads? I'd prefers ones that aren't known to cause browser crashes. Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon {web link} Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon extends the blocking functionality of Adblock Plus to those annoying pop-up windows that open on mouse clicks and other user actions.

Forum; Adblock Plus Homepage {web link}

I've installed the first one you listed, but it's not blocking the ads on one of the websites I frequently go to. And yes, I did restart Firefox and it's still not getting rid of the ads.

The ads on the website. The website I'm talking about is fanfiction.net The Adblock Plus add-on isn't blocking any of the ads.

Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing. The ad in the shot is one of those moving ads (a gif-type ad).

Hi  !
Your screenshot shows that the   Adblocker  icon is greyed out,   which means that you've got to click on it and activate it.

I didn't even notice that! Now it's working. Thanks.

If you find a site where you do not want the ads blocked; Load the web page. After the page is loaded, click the down arrow next to the AdBlock icon. Now select Disable on <website>. Reload the page.
