Why when Firefox is slow are users blamed and told to do fixes that have not worked for any of the users having the same problem?

Firefox is slow loading web pages and even responding to clicks like the support search on this page. Looking over the recent similar questions, users are asked to do the same "script" of do this do that... safe mode, check all your add on's, reset firefox and lose all your stuff... Same steps. I checked several of the threads and found the same thing. The problem still existed after the user did all of this and wasted hours. Most gave up.

Firefox has an issue. Yes I did all the crap 4 weeks ago then magically, a fix was issued, imagine that! When will the current issue be fixed by an update? No other browser is acting as Firefox is so I know it is not anything on my side. It is a shame when you see a great company slide into Lycos mode... Seems either someone has figured how to mess up firefox or firefox has stopped working on their basic software.

Rumors have it a new product based on the Google platform is on the way. Is that the issue? is it not wanting to fix a product that is no longer relevant? Please don't respond with restart, or start in safe mode. That is an insult just like the old IT dept... turn it off for 10 seconds. If there is no fix please communicate when one is expected. Yes, I have defragged and have run to check for malware... found nothing... Is it a java issue again? If so why firefox only? I don't want to change from Firefox. I loved the open source and cutting edge attitude and addon's. Chrome has all the majors... IE too. It is a sad day when IE makes anyone look good. They are twice as reliable as firefox and have been for months.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Before we can tell a user what the problem is, first, we need to find out what is not the problem. The responses to our questions help to find the source.

I know what Safe mode is. I also know that you should check your router to be sure it is working properly, You need to have Flash current. All the other things that one should do too. Oh, and the scan for malware, I forgot that one. Seriously, check the threads recently concerning slowness... all are asked to do these cookie cutter steps. They don't work. so what happens? nothing. Next up... run the same tests and act like it worked the last time to fix it.

Firefox has another issue. A month ago it was the same drill... magically another release.. and it worked for 3 weeks..... Same issues arise. If it was fixing the problem for one person I could see trying it.

If firefox were apple when they had their recent ISO issue we would be doing hard reboots daily... because it might work for a while. Apple for all their sins owned up to the issue, took a few days to fix it and released a fix. No apple ISO user spent 5 hours trying to fix a problem apple knew was on their end. If I was doing volunteer support I would be upset at firefox for putting me in a spot where I just read from a list and hope it fixes things. I get the response to the questions find the source. If I have no issues with connection speed with other browsers, know about add on's and haven't added, deleted or updated an add on what are the chances of that being the issue? zero. Unless Firefox change something on their end... if they did tell us, it will be a quick fix. If any update for any add on or flash etc. causes an issue then start there... firefox knows the problem too many users are affected. If it is an add on causing issues why would firefox want each individual to fix the issue? disable the add on... get it fixed. If it is flash, say that. Someone doing testing on beta versions doesn't start at the beginning when an error pops up. They back track and see the issue. These answers for this problem would have the the person doing the opposite. Every report of slowness and page lag is treated as if it is the first one ever reported. emails that take 20 seconds are sent. the user spends 4 hours doing things that have not worked for anyone else this week... one poor guy until 3 am.... the advice is easy... highlight copy paste... the user actually feels like he may find the issue so doe the steps... and finds no change. then silence.... until the magic fix is released (like a month ago.. I was one of the people following the script to find the issue "I" was having... until a day later after 6 hours of logs and testing one add on at a time.... I find out firefox was working on a fix at the exact same time I was being treated like a rat in a maze. let's pretend I have followed the script. safe mode, add on's checked, no issues with line or connection speed... flash OK, now what.. oh no malware found on the computer either. chrome and IE have no issue and load complex pages lightning fast. Now what do I check?
