Thunderbird 38 has installed itself on my PC in spite of my turning off auto-update. Almost nothing works properly in this new installation compared to Thunderbird 31. The only thing that works is the ability to download email from my ISP's server and I can view emails. I cannot send emails, reply to emails or forward emails. I cannot view my address book. None of the menu options actually do anything. None of the buttons do anything at all. When I close Thunderbird 38 it doesn't actually shut down and I cannot re-open it - when I open the task manager, I find a thunderbird.exe process still running from the original session. What is going on and how can I fix this?? It is very frustrating.
