How can I get AZW format data to automatically save?

Reading is my main hobby and I purchase and download most books in AZW format. When I store them to my hard drive, I'm always asked if I want to save or open them. Am trying to get it to automatically store them (like it would if they were in mobi or epub format) and not able to make that happen. How can I make it happen?

See this - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file - to learn how to change the "action" for AZW files to "Save File".

I'm sorry, this doesn't solve the problem. AZW is not one of the file types that's available to change. The article (that you sent and which I had tried to follow before asking the original question) said that new files types would be added as that type file was received. But, it isn't and I can't add it myself.

Also, I've since made the mistake of refreshing firefox and everything is gone. Bookmarks, settings, toolbars, everything. Tried to restore the computer to an earlier point in time but those settings were wiped out too. PLEASE - take that refresh function away!!!

"... said that new files types would be added as that type file was received. But, it isn't ..."

In that case, those AZW files probably don't have a proper MIME-Type attached to the file, which would trigger Firefox into asking if you want to add that file to the Applications > Content Type list.

Generally it is possible to edit the mimeTypes.rdf file to add a new "content type", but I don't recommend you doing that due to the problems that you have ready created for yourself by doing that "refresh" and then not stopping and asking for help here. And then compounding that problem further by "restoring to an earlier date".

Thank you for your reply. You're right, I definitely didn't do myself any favors when I refreshed. I didn't realize I would be wiping the memory clean by refreshing though, I thought of it as just reloading that one page. Live and learn. BTW, I couldn't restore to an earlier date, those settings were wiped out too.
