I purchased this new Dell Tower PC in April, 2014 runs on Windows 7 and installed Internet Explorer right away, it never failed to start crashing after every use. Someone suggested I install Mozilla Firefox because it is much faster and reliable, so I did, ! have been running it now since April. Around August on a daily basis, it just stops working, with a pop up box saying it has stopped working and must shut down ! This is getting to be a real nightmare !

If you do crash again, try disabling hardware acceleration as everyone else had suggested because the crashing may be related to your graphics card or integrated graphics.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

Thank you for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

Reports this is really strange, like I said it happens on a daily basis but the reports only have 2 dates, which doesn't make sense to me:

This might be related to your crashing, but you seem to have malware installed. Please see:

Try removing it from your extensions to see if it makes your browser more stable:

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Add-ons > Extensions

Alternatively, if you think that it is not the problem, try running in safe mode to see if Firefox is more stable. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If that doesn't solve your problem, can you repost the first crash report and include the bp- portion? Without it nobody can analyze the crash report, and the other one you submitted is quite old.

Had run a Malware program suggested by you and now had 3 more crashes below: 78a373f3-c6f8-4bf2-9726-bb1e7437b9ff 10/15/2014 5:24 PM eede776c-288f-4680-93d1-25b8df0c9144 10/15/2014 5:20 PM bp-cc1a3b32-4532-4350-85a8-f6c0d2141015 10/15/2014 4:20 PM

I cannot open the first two crash reports, you need to copy the entire line including the bp- portion.

Have you removed the MapsGalaxy toolbar, or run in Safe Mode? Let us know if that made any difference or still caused Firefox to crash.

If the "bp-" prefix is missing then click its line on the about:crashes page to submit the crash report and the crash report will get a "bp-" prefix (do not add it yourself).

Yup, the bp is required - my mistake I should have included that in my message. Your latest reports can't seem to find the crashing thread, I don't really know what to make of that other than maybe an extension causing an issue.

Can you tell me what happens when you run in safe mode? Please see my earlier post if you need the instructions to get there.

You can check if there is an update for the graphics display driver or try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Unfortunately most of the crash reports have an [@ EMPTY] signature, so no data is available about the cause of the crash.

Do you have submitted crash reports with "bp-" prefix that show a crashing thread?

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?

You can also check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

Heads up for you, I'm running Windows 7 on a new PC purchased in April, 2014 at the beginning of setting up the new PC, Internet Explorer had continuously crashed. I talked with Microsoft they said the version I was running had issues and that an update was in the works. I couldn't wait so I started using Mozilla Firefox only to find out that about 3 months into using it, the same problem occurred, continuous crashing which I ignored until I couldn't stand it any more. Yesterday purchased a new printer and couldn't get it installed, contacted Dell Premium Support, they said I had issues in my "BIOS" related to browser crashes, with added updates, reinstalled drivers, the new printer is now installed, so far NO Crashes and not expecting anymore. If no more occur, I will close my conversation as resolved. Thanks !
