Why does my sidebar index of bookmarks take so long to recover every time I move a bookmark and how do I fix it?
Once I've moved a bookmark in the sidebar, the entire list will freeze up for sometimes a minute before anything works again.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to repair the places database with this extension:
