running version 138.0 (64 bit) can I install saved download of version 78.6.1
I have a downloaded application of Thunderbird 78.6.1 on my computer from 2021. With my new Windows 11 Pro I had to download and install 138.0 (64 bit) and I'd like to go back to 78.6.1. Can I install it by running the application from the old download? If so, do I need to uninstall 138.0 first?. Will my address book and emails be safe? Is there any profile mix up I should be concerned about?

There is almost certain to be a major profile screw up. I suggest you just accept the status quo and move on. You will probably be pulling our hair for weeks over lost contacts, mails calendars etc.
You can download and install any version of Thunderbird that has ever been released from here https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/. It is not an issue. What you can't do without difficulty is go backwards with a profile as profile changes to not contain code to reverse them and there have been many since V78. If you really want to do this a new profile is really the best outcome you can try for.
