Cannot retrieve emails from profile
Thunderbird crashed and when I finally got it started again all my emails had disappeared. I found what I believe to be the original profile and I tried all of the suggested methods for getting Thunderbird to retrieve the emails, contacts etc from this profile. The profile seems to have all my email addresses associated with it and there are some large inbox files in recognisable folders but when I point Thunderbird at this profile or try an import from this profile nothing happens. At one stage I tried setting up one of my email accounts to see if that would drag in the old emails but it didn't. I am at a major impass trying to figure out how to recover all of this data. Help!

No need to fiddle with an add-on for this: close TB and copy mbox files from Mail/<popservername>. ImapMail/<imapservername> or Mail/Local Folders, and subfolders (sbd), of any profile, to the Mail/Local Folders of the active profile folder. Rename the mbox if necessary. Restart TB (in the active profile) and find the folders under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

I suggest trying the importexport addon to extract messages.
Thank you, I downloaded the add on but cannot seem to import the settings that are not actually already in the profile in use even though they are clearly in the profile. It seems I have to export Mbox files including settings but only seem to be able to do this from inside Thunderbird which only exports the new settings. Is there a way to export to MBox directly from the original profile so that I can then import those files back in to the new profile?
