A few weeks ago after an automatic update I ended up having Thunderbird version 131.0.1 installed, I have no idea how this happened. On opening I get a message telling me I shouldn't be using a beta version and that I should revert to the latest general release version (128.4)

Today when I had some free time I downloaded 128.4 and installed it. On opening it it says that I can't use a profile file from a later version with the earlier version. Is there a way to recover from this WITHOUT having to set up the whole profile again from scratch.

Meanwhile I have done a system restore so I am back with 131.0.1 It has not given me any problems so far. Is there a new general release version imminent that will get me back on track?

I would appreciate any help I am not a computer expert, just a user, and find Thunderbird a very good email client.

Firefox was once the most popular browser in the world, but then Mozilla started releasing updates every week and became disgusting. Now Mozilla has a tiny piece of the market, they have essentially lost almost everything, but they continue to shit with updates like diarrhea, which most users do not need and it's impossible to refuse the annoying, ugly constant reminder about updates. I'm not even talking about the fact that after a refusal to update to a new version, there is a forced update to a new version without permission. So, why doesn't this company learn from its mistakes and become at least a little smarter?

I am getting stopped, dead cold, every time I try to install Thunderbird mail on Linux Mint 22. I've attached a generic article that explains how Akamai's site security services bots are working to protect a site or sites that TB must access to complete it's installation task. In my case it's Comcast/Xfinity. Accordingly, TB installations will not complete and new users are locked out...some for months. The concensus of the devs that have been working on this critical issue is that there is nothing on a new TB user's side that in any way causes or contributes to the issue. I would very much appreciate any information you can provide about a speedy resolution in the works.

Note: The error notification screen "Access Denied" is the same message I get, but with Xfinity referenced.

I recently got a new iMac computer for my wife and set up Thunderbird on it. Her previous computer had a linux OS. The problem was that we just discovered recently that she did not have all of the email addresses in her address book. So, I endeavored to correct that. I found instructions on the web that told me to copy the abook.map file from her old computer and paste it into the profile folder of her new computer and then start up Thunderbird on the new Mac computer and import an address book, that is the one I just pasted into the profile folder. I did this and the emails addresses in the new address book were there and good. Meanwhile, I was running Thunderbird on the old linux computer at the same time and I noticed at the bottom of the window some small numbers that looked like they were reporting on the number of messages being downloaded. I was puzzled about this. The old computer's Thunderbird did not show any new emails in the normal window. When I went back to the new iMac computer and opened Thunderbird there were no emails in the inbox! Surprise! What happened to our emails? I don't know how Thunderbird works regarding syncing two identical installations of Thunderbird but it occurred to me that this might have caused this problem. Any ideas? Thanks,

Jakan

After new installation of Windows 11 and Thunderbird at 15.Jan 2025 I had to restore my local Folders to get accessions to prior e-mails. With the function Import it wasn't be possible to import the real data. With konto-parameter I could set the file to the prior profiles, but I could only set it to one of multiple subfolders, to get access to the e-mail data. My solution (but not really a good solution): to copy all data of the prior profile to the profile of the new installation (without a function of Thunderbird - manually by the simple Explorer). You need all data inclusive all folders and files in the \Mail\Local Folders\ with all .sbg Files (= SubFolders with SubSubfolders), .msf (name of Subfolders with data) and the data files. (in Explorer all System files and System folders must be visible). I had then problems to reorginize the subfolders then in Thunderbird and to delete data ---> with manually reorganizing, renaming and deleting unnessary data by the simple Explorer this was easier and faster.

The Import Function should be improved - no reply necessary

With the istallation in Nov 2024 (when I had the identical problem) I didn't recognized this problem

Thanks

Hi. On an Active Directory, we deploy Firefox (normal or ESR). It's OK. When we deactivate the link of the GPO, it's supposed to uninstall. But it doesn't (even if we delete the GPO, specifying to uninstall at once).

The gpresult command on each computer doesn't show the GPO anymore, but Firefox is still installed.

( FYI, we used to do that with FrontMotion Community Edition, and it was always working (instal and uninstal). We even just tried the "last" (but old) ESR edition present on the FrontMotion site (CEESR-102), and it works. But FM CE version has stopped being developped. )

So, any idea about why the official Mozilla Firefox version (normal or ESR) doesn't uninstall?

Thanks by advance.
