Been using TB for about 10 years. My last upgrade was to ver 52.9.0. in 2018. Since, I have clicked the upgrade button a few times. I do not know what ver I was running before my accidental upgrade to 115.16.2 a couple days ago. This ver is terrible. I want to go back to my previous ver, but not sure what it was.

So a month ago I did a win 10 backup to my external drive. Not sure how to just restore TB on win 10 backup. Also, I weekly copy my profile to a thumb drive.

1. Where is that ver number located in the copied profile so I know what ver I was running? And if I find it can I just uninstall TB and all files/profile and reinstall that version; then import my copied profile without losing 10 years of mail?

Direct after the update to 132.0 (linux,64-bit) thunderbird stopped downloading the body of my emails, only the message headers are downloaded. This appears on all accounts, (POP and IMAP). Another email client workes and everything there is fine so i am shure there is no failure at serverside. I tried also to delete all files on all servers (bad message problem) and reorganize "global-messages-db.sqlite". but all this does not solve the problem. Unfortunately it is not possible to move back to my old working installation and profile ( why dont you offer this?, would be nice in this situation ...)

I'm managing some tasks for a club and try to set up a personal address book containing all the members. I found, that TB 128.4.2esr (64-Bit) silently ignores added members, like couples, who use the same mail address. The solution I tried is to add another address entry addressing both of them in the name field. Ending up with three entries in the general address book with identical mail addresses. Now, adding the entry with both names to the Personal Address Book doesn't show this entry but one of the other two with the same address. Any solution for this kind of (minor) problem? Thank you!

Hello I have a problem where I get an error message "Unable to use profile when you launch an older version of Thunde...."

I noticed that I had 2 versions of the program installed, 115.16.0 and 128.3.3. Thunderbird must have been running okay up to v115.16.0 as I had to do manual installs from then to now. Initially there seemingly was no indication of any problem. I'm not sure how many manual installs I did as it was only 15th Oct that this issue started. I was on holidays for 6 weeks Thunderbird was unused between about 28th Aug to 15th October. So, my Thunderbird was running at 115.16.0. I tried to uninstall 115.15.0 but it said I had another version that needed to have the uninstall completed by rebooting the PC. I did that but 115.16.0 still remained. I uninstalled 128.3.3 successfully. 115.16 still wouldn't uninstall, so I used a program to cleanup all of this version. I reinstalled 128.3.3 and still get the same problem I started with. "Unable to use profile when you launch an older version of Thunde...."

How can I get Thunderbird running? Regards Alllan

I've been having this problem for probably about a year now. I have 9 accounts (5 Pop3 and 4 IMAP), and the passwords are stored by Thunderbird. I click the send/recieve button and everything downloads...until it doesn't. I go the settings/ saved passwords and what was a long list is very short...it has the MS oauth stuff for outlook.com emails and nothing else.

Over time I've found a relatively easy workaround. if I click the offline button in the lower corner, eventually it will prompt me for all the missing passwords and I'll be ok. But I have to exit and re-enter Thunderbird for that to work. If I do it in the instance after a download failure...it just hangs.

I use Firefox, and I noticed it happened one time after a Firefox update and I thought that might be an issue, but that didn't happen on the next update. There is nothing overt or obvious with my computer that would explain it...no dropped connections or errors...

I will note that I generally keep the computer and Thunderbird updated...but not necessarily immediately after the latest update is released. Thunderbird is at 128.4.2esr now. Windows 11, 1 yr old computer.

I do he the Thunderbird data on a NAS accessed over a LAN. I've been doing that for a long time with no issues.

No other changes on my end see to be the issue. Any ideas?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I hope you can guide me.

BACKGROUND: I had trouble with my old outlook and it stopped downloading email and I could not find out why (I was in China when it stopped, I am now in Thailand and I have tried and failed to get it going again although I can send email OK but it just won't download - IMAP). I tried the "new" outlook and it works OK but this is cloud based and I travel a lot including to China (where connectivity is a big problem, especially to anything google) and I need access to my downloaded email. I also don't like the "new" outlook format which is inflexible but the main problem for me is that it is cloud based, else I would put up with it.

THUNDERBIRD: I then I searched for a better mail system and found Thunderbird - hurrah! I it seemed exactly what I need (congratulations to you guys on such a great and straight-forward prod uct which was breeze to set up and get working). After connecting using POP3 it started to download all my ancient emails from 2007 (I had not realized they were still stored in gmail from so long ago). It downloaded really fast and I kept archiving them to get them out of the inbox. Unfortunately it downloaded by oldest emails first with, it seems, no option to download most recent first, so it starting at 2007. By day 2, I was up to 2011, by day 3, I was up to 2013 but it was slow going. Then I noticed the download went slower and slower until it was downloading only one or two emails at a time not hundreds, then it stopped completely just into 2016 with messages saying "no new emails" after F5.

I don't know if I have overloaded Thunderbird (maybe 25GB so far and thousands of emails) or that gmail is getting a little upset with me downloading so much and consuming their bandwidth, so has cut me off (directly connection to gmail is still fine). My 500GB SSD still has plenty of space so it is not a HD limitation.

HELP! I really like the format of Thunderbird and would like to use it if I can overcome this basic problem. Do you have any ideas? I will happily go into gmai to delete my ancient emails if will help, but I fear now that Thunderbird and gmail are not wanting to talk to each other.

Any ideas or suggestions? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot. Malcolm [edited] @gmail.com Tel: [edited phone# from public community support forum] (works with WhatsApp)

I have been using TB (under Ubuntu) for years without problems. I am now on version 115.15.0. Suddenly today the performance of the UI is abysmal. Even selecting a different folder to view in the navigation pane can take over a minute to complete. The activity monitor is no help. It often shows that nothing is happening when I am waiting for the view to change from one folder to another. When it does show something, it is usually indexing an inbox, but I have 5 accounts with inboxes, so this is no help. How can I see which inbox is being indexed? Some posts say that there should be a pause button in the Activity Monitor for the indexing activity, but I don't see any such thing. Some posts recommend changing mailbox format from mbox to mdir, but they don't say how. Searches for "mdir" in Thunderbird's settings and in the support knowledge base support knowledge base came up empty. How can I restore Thunderbird's normal performance?

Hello,

Recently I opened Thunderbird and it automatically added the following folders to my account:

https://www.imagebam.com/view/MEX6LYC

All the generic yellow folders below the Deleted trash can icon suddenly appeared and they weren't there or weren't shown before. I right-mouse clicked on the account folder, went to Subscribe, unticked the folders that I don't want to subscribe to (all the yellow ones were there), restarted Thunderbird and they all still appeared and the boxes I unchecked, had just rechecked themselves.

I don't want them shown. Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks

When I have an email and I want to save it as a PDF file, it saves the resulting PDF in the root directory of the drive. I would like to change this so that the it saves to the Desktop.

Please note that I am NOT talking about ATTACHMENTS; please read the following background info:

Here's what I'm doing: in Thunderbird (TB), I have an open email that I want to save ("Print") as a PDF. I go to the drop-down menu "More", then select "Print", then "Save to PDF". The resulting PDF is saved in the root directory of my computer's drive, which is not where I want it. I do not see any option to choose the save location for this function.

I am running Thunderbird 115.16.2 (64-bit) on an Intel Core i3 PC running Windows 7 Pro.

Thank you in advance for your help!
