Did you update to a en-GB Firefox version?

Try to install the Firefox en-US version on top of the current installation.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox 28.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Firefox 10esr have been replaced by Firefox 17esr and currently Firefox 24esr, so you are many releases behind on updates.

You can check the default search engines in the searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder (in later Firefox versions browser\searchplugins) to see which search engines you have.
