Can't import Safari bookmarks, what could be wrong?

After installing Firefox 4( the latest stable version) I attempted to import my Safari 5.05 bookmarks but couldn't. The bookmarks do not appear in Firefox at all. MacBook Pro Intel core 2 duo w/Leopard 10.5.8.
