Can't add search engines to the manage search engine box, no engines there, default doesn't work?

I accidently uninstalled all search engines plugin from the search box. Now, I want to reinstall the original plugins and i am unable to find the download. Firefox is also unable to automatically detect google.com as a search engine and provides no option to add google as a search engine. I tried to add search engines but they never show in the box. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox 3 but it does not add back the default search plugins that come with the browser. Is their a download link? If not, is their some way of keeping my browser settings and addons, while reinstalling firefox and getting the default plugins installed. PLease help.
