Lost some tabs after opening Firefox after normal shutdown, then lost all of them trying to restore them.

When I booted up Firefox today, I noticed a good chunk of my tabs were gone. They were nowhere in 'closed tabs' in History, nor in recently closed windows. In trying to restore them, I've now lost ALL of my open tabs with no clear way of getting them back. I have no idea what to do. 'Restore previous session' is not an option available to me.
