1. i know how to take a screen shot 2. unfortunately, the problem is gone. I was so disgusted with the update to Video Downloadhelper that was just added that I had to restore my Win10 back a week and restore the old addons file for Video Downloadhelper from a backup (to revert to older version).
The problem was a vertical toolbar (that is a vertical space filled with just icons) that appeared on the very left of my window. It was obviously not a bookmarks "sidebar", but not sure what it was. I remember one of the icons was a "settings" (cog wheel) icon. I have a VAGUE suspicion it was created by an addon, maybe even Video Downloadhelper. Step 2 above got rid of this vertical toolbar.
Anyone have an idea what I might have been? I know one thing: I am not going to allow Video Downloadhelper to update and see if that is the problem! The newest version doesn't work!!! It does not create an icon to activate it!
