I recently went to a website I normally visit but accidentally misspelled the url which took me to a deceptive website. Luckily, Firefox was able to detect the site as a security threat and did not allow connection.

About 5 mins after, my windows defender caught a Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml in the \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\0efjymat.default-release\cache2\entries\. I immediately quarantined and removed it.

I understand that it could be a false positive since I read that windows defender usually catches cache files that may look suspicious to it. I have to wonder though is it still possible for deceptive website cache files to get downloaded despite getting blocked by Firefox?

Note: I have ublock extension and my Firefox browser version is 131.0.2 64-bit

so i found two websites on google search.

normally i went through https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/

but i accidently clicked the one with mozila.eu

so basically one with double L letter and one with single L letter.

may i ask if those are same website?

but when i visited the second link, it came up like this : https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/?utm_source=mozilla-eu&utm_medium=referral

its different with first one  : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

i probably need a detailed information whats the meaning of the end of the url of first site.

i have safe website/safe browsing on. but i still worried if something happens. checked through virustotal but no sign so far.

I recently purchased a Sandisk Ultra Flair flash drive because I wanted to password protect some files. The flash drive requires me to download the Private Access software from the Western Digital web site. When I try to do this the Mozilla browser states "Malicious Download Detected" and cancels the download. Does anyone have any suggestions? I went to the Privacy and Security part of Settings, and unchecked the Deceptive Content setting, but Firefox still would not let me download the software. Perhaps the change to the setting I tried did not register in Settings, but here I am asking for your help. Thanks.

Hello! Icant read my mail in yahoo.fr using FIREFOX. I get a message La page n’est pas redirigée correctement

Firefox a détecté que le serveur redirige la demande pour cette adresse d’une manière qui n’aboutira pas.

La cause de ce problème peut être la désactivation ou le refus des cookies.

With EDGE no problem. I would prefer to keep FIREFOX rather than others... Can you help me please?

I use private browsing mode exclusively. For years I've used Tools > Settings > Privacy & Security > Clear Data > Clear > Clear Now to clear the history, cache, cookies and so on during a session without having to close the browser, or so I thought. However, yesterday I ran into a situation (dealing with tech support for software) where it became painfully obvious that that process was NOT clearing out the history. So, a couple of questions:

1. Why, why, does it take 6 clicks to do that, instead of, say, just one click on a button on the toolbar?

2. Why didn't that clear out everything?

3. Where can I look to see whether all that stuff is cleared?

Thanks.

Hi

I was just scrolling through passwords on my Firefox password manager and found 2 passwords that didn't belong to me I deleted them but am now concerned as to how they got there. One was for 'piano vx' (https://auth.piano.io/u/login identifierstate=hKFo2SAwOXdxTTVPWVcxU0tOc25oUWVWWTNnMTBHRFRiY2NCRaFur3VuaXZlcnNhbC1sb2dpbqN0aWTZIF9YUG5IRDNmaTFLRnJSd0hlTHpTNE9jWmJ3YzZucEE0o2NpZNkgTmJJZVZxMkJ6ZkpzSjlQR1RxZTdqTmRxeVRvaGUyWjQ) I have scrolled down through my Firefox history and the only 'Piano vx' entries are from today when I was checking what the password was for. I have never visited that site before so could not have saved a password.

I cannot remember the other spurious one I deleted (as have had a general tidy up whilst I was there) but it gave my user name as 'scottish' which is something I would not use as I am not!

Can anyone shed any light on how these passwords which have not been generated by me are showing in my Firefox password manager please? I have run Microsoft Defender and Eset but neither showing any issues.

I have changed my Firefox password.

Many thanks Gill

I use FF on a 2012 PC running Windows10. I was going to replace the computer, but a tech shop nearby has recommended (without seeing my computer) updating the hardware within. I have a lot of passwords stored in FF, and I should like some advice regarding protecting privacy by saving them and reusing them on the refurbished computer. Any other comments about refurbishing as opposed to replacing would be welcome.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I think it automatically imported everything which was not desirable in this case.

Do not have account or sync so it is not pulling from either of those places

We use a privacy technology vendor named OneTrust to power much of our privacy infrastructure.

This morning, two websites reported Firefox users are encountering site functionality problems when trying to exercise their privacy rights, such as opting out of sharing data and targeted advertising. My team investigated and was able to reproduce the reported bug.

We discovered the cause of the bug is that Firefox's Privacy Enhanced Mode is by default blocking two domains from our privacy vendor OneTrust which are critical to the functioning of our CMP (Consent Management Platform): - cookielaw.org - onetrust.com

These two domains are used solely for the essential services needed to run our privacy software. They're not used for marketing, sales, or advertising. Blocking them not only causes site functionality issues it keeps our users from being able to exercise their privacy rights.

I've attached two screenshots here showing the network calls and domains.

Can Mozilla please quickly review this bug and remove these two domains from the blocklist powering Privacy Enhanced Mode?
