Hello everyone,

I've been using Firefox for quite some time and I always keep a bunch of windows open throughout a few workspaces on my laptop. However, this takes up a lot of resources and looks very messy. So, I've been thinking of writing a script/extension to simply store all the open links in a window to a named list that I can, then, come back to when I need and reopen. That way, I could possibly have different lists, separated by topic and stored in a single place.

I'm sorry if there is an obvious solution for this, I saw a couple of similar questions have been asked before, but none that I could use as reference.

Thank you for your time, have a nice week!

When using Firefox to access the Commonwealth Banks online portal, Netbank, the Bills & upcoming payments page will not load. I found this discussion about it - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1753352 - a discussion that is now 2 years old and the solution is to disable fission.autostart. It seems crazy that this issue has not otherwise been solved. It seems users have to disable an important firefox security setting in order to get functionality. What are the dangers of disabling fission? And is there a better solution to this problem yet?

Thanks

Why does the Mozilla Firefox snap for Ubuntu keep changing the value of browser.opaqueResponseBlocking away from the default and selected FALSE setting to TRUE? This makes Firefox nearly unusable since the streaming video keeps being cut off when Mozilla Firefox snap for Ubuntu keeps changing the value of browser.opaqueResponseBlocking randomly during use. Specifically this is the 116.0.2 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox snap for Ubuntu canonical-002 - 1.0 that is installed with Ubuntu 23.04. Please advise.

My setup:

Firefox Version 116.0.2 (64-bit) Firefox for Manjaro Linux

Whenever a tab is playing sound, there's an icon on the taskbar icon that disables or re-enables audio in Firefox. Is there a way to deactivate/remove that button in the "about:config"-menu?

I am trying to remove my login details on firefox for my microsft account. Everytime I try i go to www.office.com or portal.office.com to log into my account the username for the account is always displayed.

I have gone on the the privacy and setting and removed all cached data, removed history and cache when closing firefox.

But everytime I go to the website to log onto my microsoft account the account user name remains. Is there a way of removing this information. I ahve also cleared auto.fill and disabled this within the about:config.

Could anyone advise me how this can be done as I cannot seem to find anyother settings that I may have to change for this to be done!

Thanks!

I am unable to download files from links sent to me from various sources. I always get the message that the download failed. I use macOS Ventura 13.5, and ad blocking and antivirus software. I've reviewed previous suggestions on Firefox's website, but those suggestions I understand haven't corrected the problem. Any suggestions?

Hey folks,

i am facing issue with high CPU usage on firefox in completely different process other as visible in task manager than my actual process for firefox. is there something wrong with firefox or my system.

This separate process uses more than 60% of my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 4600). If I close that process in the task manager nothing happens to my current firefox process and i can use firefox normally.

But everytime this separate process starts my system fans ramp up and CPU temps peaks to 70 degrees celsius. and i have to end that process to make it run normally. Thats a quite annoying process to do every time.

I am able to recreate this separate process by:

  1. 1. Plug my system for charging
  2. 2. I was working offline and connect to internet

both the times the separate process automatically starts and uses very high amount of CPU. I even left my system for 2 hours to keep that process running and complete whatever it was doing. but nothing happend. It continued to run for 2 hours also.

Please find a solution for this. I have already tried solutions provided in the forum:

  • Restarting firefox
  • Refreshing Firefox
  • Enabling hardware accleration
  • Clearing some user profile data
  • Completely uninstalling firefox and deleting the residual files then reinstalling etc.

but nothing worked.

I'm running Firefox 116.0.2 on Xubuntu 20.04.6. A day ago, it started loading at startup for no apparent reason. I don't want it to that. It's not my default browser, and it is not selected as such. It is not listed in any startup folders or in application autostart in system settings. I tried the winregister and auto update fixes using about:config, and no joy.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It's past annoying.

Hi,

In some websites, a cookies menu opens over the page but not as a popup eg https://www.elexon.co.uk/knowledgebase/about-the-bsc/

In Chrome, I can see the menu and make the relevant cookies choice and then access the site, but in firefox the whole page is effectively greyed out. As it isn't a popup I can't whitelist the site for popups (well I can but it doesn't change anything).

Any ideas how I can make this work without having to use the site in a different browser?

Thanks

It is absolutely unacceptable that Firefox does not offer the option of saving a file in its original file format. I well understand the advantages of WEBP and AVIF formats for bandwidth conservation, but the fact is that these files are not supported by many software packages, so I want the original file formats.

Setting "image.webp.enabled" to "false" breaks many websites, YouTube most prominently.

Being forced to download a potentially risky extension to the browser in order to do something the browser should support natively (and actually does, because it has to, even if it's disabled by the developers with no way for users to re-enable it) is not an acceptable solution, especially when that means the extension isn't actually saving the original file, be re-converting it back to the original format, which is most often potentially a triply lossy conversion. The original JPEG is a lossy conversion, the server converting it to WEBP on the fly can also be a lossy conversion, and then the extension reconverting it to JPEG is yet another lossy conversion. Just give me the original JPEG.

I'm fine with viewing WEBP images, but if I'm saving an image, I don't want WEBP, I want the original. Why is this issue being forced by the Firefox developers? What deal have they made with the Google devil that they are preventing users from having access to original files?

It can be extremely difficult to figure out what is the latest information on this subject, so I'd appreciate recommendations current to 2023-08 as to the best way to handle this problem.

Hi we are running a new computer--an HP Desktop 12gb ram and a Ryzen 7 processor. We use the Square platform to book appointments and to run the cash register.

Firefox crashes when using the Square website, Square won't load at all and the only solution is to run Firefox in Troubleshooting mode and refresh the entire browser.

This isn't tenable as a business--I need a reliable web browser.

I think Square has a LOT of problems, but since refreshing Firefox fixes it, I'm starting troubleshooting on your end rather that Square.

If you disable an add-on does it stop collecting the information that the Permissions you accepted at installation allow?

There are add-on's which I would use selectively so I would turn one on, use it, and then disable it (rather than remove it) to prevent it from collecting information when don't not need it.

Thanks,

Bob
