32-bit Linux distros for the ancient 32-bit CPU's are becoming less available so I guess Mozilla looked at whether it was worth it to continue to spend resources on 32-bit Linux. If your CPU is 64-bit then you should run 64-bit Linux.

I know it is possible for older OEM systems to have a 64-bit CPU yet they installed a 32-bit Windows like 32-bit Windows Vista.

reasons why someone > doesn't has a 64-bit os:

- has no USB to copy the OS on it - doesn't has a dvd-rw to copy the OS - is disabled/handicapped and can't buy whats needed to get a new OS (the 2 from above) - is a older person and doesn't understand how to install it - their machine is too old. The only use it to watch youtube

Mozilla has been one to support EOL OS's the longest compared to Chrome/Chromium as they are currently still supporting the EOL Windows, 7, 8, 8.1 and macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 with updates to the older Firefox 115 ESR. It is currently at 115.29.0esr and updated till 115.33.0esr in February unless they extend again.

With Windows 10 support coming to an end, the much smaller number of people who have 32-bit Windows 10 may have some considering going to 32-bit Linux on that old hardware. I suppose Mozilla may have taken this into account when deciding to end 32-bit Linux support with Firefox.

The Extended Support Release (ESR version) of Firefox 140 is scheduled to receive security updates through September 2026, so you can migrate your data to that one to stay supported. You will lose some recently added features and fixes, but they might not be important to you since your usage is limited. See: Choose a Firefox update channel.

As far as I know, the article you linked to in your original post is the latest information. That would mean:

• Regular release support ends with Firefox 144 (End-of-Support 11/11/2025)
• Extended Support Release support is expected to end with Firefox 140.15.0esr (End-of-Support 10/13/2026)

Mozilla cut support for 32-bit Linux as of Fx 145.0 regardless of what channel the version was or is on whether Nightly, Beta and now upcoming Release.

Release < Beta < Nightly

ESR are based on a Release version but only get allowed stability and security fixes for updates. The next Release that ESR will be based on will be Fx 153 in July next year.

Since the Fx 140.x ESR is based on the Fx 140.0 Release it will still have 32-bit Linux support.

AI overall is still a work in progress and prone to making mistakes even when it was confident on being right.
