Hi All my icons changed to a globe image yesterday. I don't know why. However, I discovered that if I opened a bookmark, the correct icon reappeared. With 30 bookmarks to work on, this seemed like a lot of time, BUT your can "Open All Bookmarks in Tabs" and if you wait long enough, all your icons will be restored to those which the websites supply.

Hi Will, Thanks for your response but my post was to do with Firefox, not Chrome. Regards Jim

Those website icons are stored in favicons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder, so there might have been a problem with this file. If you have a backup copy of this file then you can try to restore it. You need to use/visit a bookmark to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.
