I have 32 bit firefox 41 running on my ubuntu machine. I am trying to run a hello world java applet on this machine but it is not running.

My oracle java version is java version "1.8.0_60" Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 25.60-b23, mixed mode)

And i am using ubuntu 14.10 and i have installed icedtea-plugin as well as it can be seen in installed packages, sudo dpkg -l | grep icedtea shows,

ii icedtea-7-plugin:amd64 1.5.2-1ubuntu2~14.10 amd64 web browser plugin based on OpenJDK and IcedTea to execute Java applets ii icedtea-7-plugin:i386 1.5.2-1ubuntu2~14.10 i386 web browser plugin based on OpenJDK and IcedTea to execute Java applets

I have enabled java in browser via java control panel. I have libnpjp2.so under ~/.mozilla/plugins. And about:addons in firefox shows Java TM plugin with state as `always activate` I am using firefox:i386 since cisco webex player runs only with 32 bit firefox.

But still, when i run a hello world java applet, it does not show the applet content.
