some directories missing after upgrade from 140 to 144

My windows 10 PCs are running ver 140 (and say they are running the latest ver and no updates are available, but my W11 Pc is running v144. When I try and copy profile from 140 to 144 about 1/3rd of the directories are missing. I usually do to this prior to going on a trip when I copy from desktop pc running W10 to laptop with W11. Last time I did this there were no problems as both were running v140, but now that the laptop upgraded itself to ver144 that's no longer possible as a third of the directories end up missing - things like Inbox, Trash, Drafts, Archive etc which are fairly important. I've paused all Thunderbird updates until the problem is resolved. Can you help please?

since last TB-Flatpak-Update, I can't start TB and I get the error report below. The problem exist on three different PC with Fedora. TB doesn't run in safe-mode. TB installation from RPM works.

Hello, After the last update 143.1.0 a large part of one of a sub folder in my local folders disappeared. I restored my recent backup but still the part of the folder is missing. I used a copy of my profiles made on my laptop with no results. I completely uninstalled Thunderbird then copied my backup with no luck. Finally, I had to make a full image restore to get Thunderbird back to where it was before 143.1.0 I updated to 144.0 with no change. Each time I open TBird, it asked me to install the 143.1.0 update and if I do then the same happens, a big part of one of my local folders subfolders disappears. Strangely, on my laptop that is basicly a duplicate of my PC thunderbird everything is ok with the last 143.1.0 update. What is in the 143.1.0 update to cause these problems, is there a command to reject long file names.  ? Has anyone experienced this problem otherwise I will be stuck with update # 143.1.0 for years Thank you Douglas Noades

For some time now (since a certain update), the sound notification for new messages has not been working. Everything is set up correctly, the sound is coming from the disk. The “Browse” button does not work. “Play” does not work either, even for the default (system) sound. It looks like a program error.

Od pewnego czasu (którejś aktualizacji) nie działa powiadomienie dźwiękowe o nowej wiadomości. Mam wszystko dobrze ustawione, dźwięk z dysku. Nie działa przycisk "Przeglądaj". Nie działa "Odtwórz" - także dla dźwięku domyślnego (systemowego). Wygląda na błąd programu.

Hello, I reported this problem and you replied with a solution and that was to downgrade to version 142. My question is: Then what ? Will I be stuck with version 142 for years or is Thunderbird working on a solution to this problem because presently updating to any version such as 144 only continues to erase local folder contents. Recently Thunderbird released two upgrades that were installed on my PC upen opening Thunderbird. Unfortunately an essential plug in (BIDImail UI) failed to opertae since it is not compatible with the newer release. It took a while for the developer of the plgin to rlease a compatible version. Why is the upgrade installed without asking my permission? Regards,

Good day, After upgrading Thunderbird to 143.0.1, I noticed that a large part of one of my local folders is missing. Searching the internet regarding this problem, I found that this issue happened last year and at other occasions. Why hasn't this problem been solved yet at it is a pain to locate and find the missing data ourself. Any suggestions to avoid this problem in the future

Lightning Strikes again.

As soon as TB upgraded to 143 I had the following problems:

1. Half my folders disappeared. In this day and age, where emails are "official documents" to prove communications.... 2. I could not delete any email, folder. 3. I could not create a folder.

So, I deleted that installation and reinstalled TB.

Same issues. NO CHANGE with a clean install.

Hi, how do I get rid of

It's not very practible to do a new copy everytime a Thunderbird Update has to be made because I mainly store my emails in a local copy (respectively a lot of copies already).

could you please help me?

I have used Thunderbird for years. I am on the esr update channel, 140.3.1 esr, and it says it is up to date. I just learned that there is another update channel, called "release". My Norton Internet Security program tells me that Thunderbird is out of date, and that the latest version is 143.0.1. Maybe it is confused because of the two update channels? Why are two different configurations maintained? Is there a reason that I should switch to the other one? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

botched update v102 to v140, need help trying again

Being in a rush after a botched TB update from v120 to 140.0esr, and missing disk backups, I reinstalled v102 and recreated two of my four email provider accounts in TB 1… (Máis información)

Being in a rush after a botched TB update from v120 to 140.0esr, and missing disk backups, I reinstalled v102 and recreated two of my four email provider accounts in TB 102. Now. I'd like to try the update again this way: 1. export the few messages downloaded to the reinstalled v102 2. Completely delete v102 and any traces of TB on my C: disk (Program Files folder, user account folders, registry...) 3. Install the latest version (143 as I write this) 4. Copy and set as default (or import?) a two-weeks old disk backup of the old TB v102 profile into v143 without anything missing:

   - Four email accounts
   - All the messages in all the mailbox folders (received, sent, drafts, etc.) of these accounts
   - The complete archives folders structure and content
   - All the other folders I created as direct children of the email accounts in the TB "Folders" outline and their contents
   - one RSS feeds account and its settings
   - ~40 RSS feeds subscriptions and their settings

5. Import the recent messages from step 1 into the corresponding TB accounts.

Is that the correct way to do this?

I'm wondering about a few things:

   - Best email export format for later import?
   - Will the restored email accounts automagically reconnect to the provider accounts? I may have changed the format of one of them from Imap to pop3, and the server handled it very well, but it would be Imap again in TB after restoring the disk backup...
   - Why is v140 the only one with ESR in its name and not the following ones? I was on ESR when I froze 102 and blocked updates)
   - Is the Sqlite DB part ot the TB account file structure, and is it carried over when moving or duplicating that account?
   - Has the TB account folder and/or the Sqlite DB changed format between v102 and v143?

P.S. the email account for this post is among the inactive ones at the moment!
