I don't understand these new (to me) windows where new tabs open. Where do they co me from?

I had a bunch of tabs open (apparently in Window 2). One of the tabs had some page I wanted to close. I hit the x and all the tabs disappeared. I went to view recent browsing and the tabs are there in Window2. But when I click on window 2, they don't go back up to the top. If i click on the up arrow they go away, but come back when i click same (now down) arrow again. I want them back up on the top to use. WHERE do new windows come from. EXPLAIN this to me.

Hi. Have you seen this:

NOT HELPFUL my tabs usually open in the "window" that you didn't explain what it is .

Then all of a sudden when I go to the history to look for something. There's 2 windows Like now , I go to history and there's window 2. It has this tab and an empty one. But this tab is also in with the others in window 1

HOW do i get rid of 2nd window?

AND 1 ) where do the desktops come from how are they created? 2) WHAT are the little squares or divided squares that sometime appear in the top right hand corner of screen? thank you

I clicked on something that appeared to be a choice or query regarding answer. NOW it says chosen solution. what the hell ?
