Font colors
Hello:
Color changes were simple when using an old Thunderbird (around 68. or so) but after embarking on an update process (now 102.6.0) the color choices quit working.
I can select a color during the composition phase and the color shows. If I look at the message after it is sent (in the sent folder), the color change(s) do NOT show. Everything is black. Also, there is no color change shown in the message that is received.
I've tried changed HTML preference changes, to 'never' override colors, to use (or not) system colors...no change I make to the composition settings have made a difference. TB knows I am changing colors because those color changes do happen in the composition window.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

do you have View>Message Body as>Original HTML?
Well now... That was set to <Simple HTML> I changed it to <Original HTML>, composed a message with both 000000 and 0000ff colors (black/default and blue respectively). I now SEE them in the sent folder message AND in the received message! That is a HUGE set forward. Thank you!

@canyncarvr re: forum posting: this is how this forum does it, the '#' character is interpreted somehow. Heed the preview to avoid surprises. re: background: I did not check that, now I have tested it and it works fine for me. Did you change the default theme ? Custom themes interfere with colors.
'Heed the preview...' That's funny.
I shall so heed, thank you. I used to use all sorts of BB-code in forums posts...pretty much stopped 'cuz it's not used so much any more.
Curiously, I am aware that Custom Themes do mess up TB colors. I've waded through that one before. To be sure (thought I DID check that this time) I did change my Custom theme (used to get slideshow background changes) BACK TO Windows and TB did NOT change in my perception of its colors-choice proclivity. So...tried it twice to no avail. Good idea though, as that setting (to Custom Theme) has been a problem in the past.
The end of this I think is a big thanks to David for the switch from 'simple' to 'original' HTML. I do not recall for sure (a great way to do things...don't keep track of changes made!) if I changed that setting in an attempt to resolve something or not. Changing to 'Original HTML' did make the colors follow the message. ...can't say what is seen on the other end. Most 'other ends' are phones these days...ugh. Apples crap drive me nuts!

Be sure that settings>general in 'colors' button that 'use system colors' is NOT ticked. And in settings>composition>HTML style that 'use readers colors' IS ticked.
Hello canyncarvr
is the sending format set as plain text ? also, what color did you set exactly ? I tested with changing the color of some text (Format / Text color) and did not see any problem (with Html format of course)
@david I have just tested 102.6.0 under Windows, the color work for me but changing the options the way you say to not set them up has not any impact at all, the colors are still working.
@gp, I agree those settings usually aren't needed, but we don't know what he is doing. Setting 'use system colors' can override other settings when setting defaults for non-HTML. I agree that viewing message as plain text is a likely cause of what he is seeing.
From the top (setting the quotes to 'italics' does not show the text IN italics..which I tried to differentiate <your> typing from <mine>. All I see are " " marks added):

I have toggled those back and forth to no effect. I did just ensure 'system colors' is NOT ticked and 'use readers' IS ticked. I still have the same result in the end: Colors I select during composition do show IN the composition, but NOT in the message after it is sent...now in the <sent> folder. ALSO...the colors I select only last as long as I am in the same area of the message I am responding to. When I <insert text with 0000ff color (blue)>, it shows. When I change the cursor to a different spot in the message, the text changes back to 000000 (black), which is the default.

The sending format was set to <automatic>. I have set it that way in the past to deal with both TXT messages being received/sent to phones as well as messages sent to email clients. The setting has been fine in the past (older TB versions) I DID change that to <only HTML> to no effect. Nothing changed. Colors set in composition are NOT seen in <sent> OR in the received message. The exact color is 0000ff blue. That choice is made from the background/foreground choices in the tool bar. Again...the color IS being switched in composition (with the change-cursor-lose-it problem noted above), but it is NOT showing in either the <sent> OR the received message.
This has turned into a rats nest. I had problems weeks back with 21H1 Windows with a new TB update of a similar sort. I went back to TB 68..which worked. After a BSOD wreck and a new reload of 22H1, I figured I had better get with the program and MAKE a current TB work. Here I am...with a new TB and it does not work (the color change part).
I understand that viewing/using plain text does NOT come with font tweaks (size/color and such). THAT is why I had composition set to 'automatic'. Does not seem to matter as setting the composition to 'ONLY HTML' did not effect the problem.
Thanks for the replies. In short..tried that earlier...no change.

This has to mean something. In my reply above, I noted the replied to quotes as #1 and #2. IN the reply, I see that rendered as 1.1 and 1.2. What the heck is THAT!!??
