Instagram and twitter videos don't play!

Started using Firefox as my regular browser recently. I now have issues with playing videos and gifs on Instagram and Twitter. When I click the play button on Instagram nothing happens. On Twitter I get this: "This browser does not support video playback." YouTube videos play perfectly. Does it have something to do with my OS because , well, I'm still using XP (sorry) and I know it is outdated.
