Getting some sort of graphic noise in the browser when scrolling upward

more options

This is mostly true when scrolling up slowly. I say mostly because it could be happening when scrolling up quickly but I'm moving too fast to know.

This "noise" I speak of takes the form of little black rectangles all over the browser window (within the window, not ever on the frame of the window).

OS: openSuse 13.1 (linux) FireFox: 31.1.0 Firefox for openSuse 13.1

And it's on a dual booted macbook, but I don't see how that makes a difference.

I have managed a screenshot of the issue but can't currently see a way to upload that.

Hello,

Unfortunately you can only attach screenshots in a reply.

What happens if you disable hardware acceleration? You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Preferences.
  2. In the Firefox Preferences window, click the Advanced tab, then select General.
  3. In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  4. Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

You can also try Firefox Safe Mode which a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes) to see if that might expose the problem.

If that doesn't help, please attach a screenshot and hopefully that might give some additional clues.

Unfortunately neither of these things makes a difference. And the problem has been since I first installed, with no addons, themes etc.

I also just noticed it's not on every website. I'll keep a closer eye on when it appears on which sites and perhaps report that information as well.

Do you have a super-high-res display? The screen shot won't load for me, which makes me wonder how big it was.

Some users find that it helps with scrolling glitches to disable "smooth" scrolling. This is in the Options dialog right above the hardware acceleration checkbox.

Try that. I think there may have been an upload glitch the first time.
