Most file attachments I receive open the correct program by file type. that does not happen for docx. Can I establish that default? If not, I have to save to tile system which will correctly handle the connection, but is not a desirable workflow.

I received an email with several jpg images attached. I click on them to open in MS Office Picture Manager, and all I get is a tiny box with a red X. I have tried several online help resolutions, yet no resolve.

Knowing that an email message should be kept below the size of 25MB, I was trying to make my attachments smaller than that. Yet when I was sending a message with no text and 1 attachment the size of 21.5MB, I got a warning that I was trying to send a message the size of 29.4MB. Where does this come from?

When T-Bird sends a message with an in-content photo, is that photo compressed to save space and transmission time?

I converted from Eudora. Eudora would compress in-content photos to save space and transmission time.

If T-Bird performs a similar action, is that compressed file saved somewhere?

Whenever I open Thunderbird on my desktop, I get a message that "FileLink Provider from WEBDAV is not properly configured," or something like that (hard to write it down when it just flashes on the screen for a few seconds!).

I have no idea what that means. I may have used FileLink in the dim dark past, but I don't recall what it's even for, let alone what to do about this error message, if anything.

Shall I just ignore it, or is there something I should do to resolve the matter? Thanks!

Hi there, Just installed Thunderbird email. I have Original HTML in Thunderbird settings, not changed anything. How do I resolve this? I appreciate your help

docx and xlsx attached files don't open with I click on them. I want them to open in Word and Excel. Nothing happens. I have to save them to my Desktop and then I can open them.

I can't find any associations in "files and attachments". 

I'm using version 140.7.0esr (64-bit)

I am running Thunderbird version 128.11.0esr (64 bits) on Windows 10 Pro. I have defined, in Windows, the default program for .doc and .docx files to be LibreOffice Writer and this works fine when I click on such a file in Windows.

But when I got a docx attachment in a Thunderbird email, and clicked on it, nothing happened. When I right-click on it, it just offers to open (not to select which program to open it with). I have to save the file locally, and click on it in Windows in order to open it.

This is very frustrating, all the more so that it used to work. I tried adding the two following lines to the prefs.js file, to no avail - no change:

I cannot open attachments directly in an email with a double click, Probably since a week or so back. I have to copy the link address and insert it into a web reader. There is no command in the settings as I can see Quite a nuisance, Best regards, Gustaf

I see that any emails I sent using my outlook/microsoft account, two copies of that sent emails get generated under 'sent' folder when it should just be one so each time I have manually delete one copy. I have not seen this issue with other providers like Gmail, Yahoo or iCloud (Apple).

The other issue is which I have only started having today is that when I am trying to attach files the dialog box from which I can select the files open briefly for like 2 seconds (with no contents visible) and then disappears.

I was in the process of searching my files to attach one to an email when the attachment window suddenly expanded from approx 50% of the screen to almost full screen and I can find no way to reset it. I can see the sideand bottom edges of the window, and move the expand/contract arrow on the cursor to these sides and the bottom corners, but it does not operate, and there is no button to minimise or adjust it. I have just checked and it is operating perfectly fine on both Firefox and the main Thunderbird window, and email viewing windows. Is this a change to the program settings - it appears to only apply to the "Attach" setting - viewing attachments and emails are as they always were.

I occasionally receive HEIC as attachments. Opening the attachment defaults to my Adobe Acrobat which also cannot open HEIC. Is it possible to set the default open to Paint or something in Win11? Thanks.

I don't seem to be able to attach and display a photo while sending an email. I transfer the image over but all that appears is a small square with no image displayed. Attachment doesn't seem to work either.

I'm on a MacBook Air

any help would be appreciated

Since the most recent update, Thunderbird doesn't load the email when clicking on the entry in the inbox, and then when double clicking to open in a new tab, the main window is blank with a Loading... text on the top left, and the URL shown above starts with chrome://
