I started noticing that Firefox was giving me a lot of "not responding" freezes the past couple of weeks. The past couple of days I basically cannot access Firefox at all - constant, immediate freezing. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling (multiple times), disabling hardware acceleration, running troubleshooter mode (still freezes! if it opens at all!), deleting profiles, restarting my computer, etc. I've done just about everything I can find online about this issue. Nothing has worked. I have no issues with Chrome or Edge.

Any suggestions??

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with website screen responsiveness in Mozilla Firefox. A site that is supposed to be fully responsive and mobile-friendly displays properly on my 24" desktop monitor (photos, alignment, and overall design look fine). However, when opening the exact same URL in Firefox on a 13" laptop screen or a mobile device, the visual design breaks—layouts overlap and images get distorted.

Has anyone encountered this issue in Firefox with certain display scales or viewport media queries? Is there a known fix or setting in Firefox (or layout tweak) to resolve this layout breakdown on smaller screens? Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve noticed that Firefox gets noticeably slower the longer I leave it open. Pages that normally load quickly start taking several seconds, scrolling can become a little laggy, and sometimes a tab will just sit there before responding. Closing and reopening Firefox fixes it for a while, but the problem eventually comes back.

I’ve already tried clearing the cache and disabling a few extensions, but I still see the same thing. I usually have quite a few tabs open because of work and research.

Is there a setting or troubleshooting step I should check to figure out what is causing this?

How can you set the DEFAULT to "Allow Data Storage ONLY for the Session" and CHOOSE sites to allow data storage?

It seems the default for allowing sites to store data locally is backwards (for privacy).

You should be able to set the DEFAULT to "Allow all sites to store data locally FOR THE SESSION ONLY," and then type in the sites that you would like to allow to store data locally for more than one session (or block entirely).

Is there a way to do this? There are not many sites I would like to allow permanent local data storage, so it wouldn't be such a terrible chore to type in their URLs. The opposite is true for sites I would want to allow ONLY FOR the one SESSION - that is a HUGE chore. This appears to be a privacy & security oversight - can you fix this?

After a Windows update, Mozilla my browser times out and won't load: "http://www.dailygammon.com/bg/login" It has been one of my bookmarks for years, I play Backgammon there every day. I have cleared my browser history and cache, it is still not loading. I tried with Edge and it loaded no problem. How do I fix this? Mozilla is my default browser.

My Windows 10 PC died - I was able to recover the data on the hard drive using an enclosure.

Bought a new PC with Windows 11 preinstalled and want to restore my configuration

Things I want restored:

Extensions with their settings (particularly Noscript /uBlock custom filters)

Bookmarks with their icons

How can I achieve this ?

I never had sync set up so that’s not an option

Can I just copy the entire account over wholesale or at least the folders containing the extension info ?

I used a temp boot of Zorin to copy my files out of the old hard drive as Windows seemed to have difficulty ‘gaining permission’ to my old profile.

I want to keep a parallel install of Linux (Mint or Zorin) - how do I transfer my settings over there ?

Lastly would running a parallel Windows 10 install help me restore my settings if nothing else works ?

Thanks

I've been using Firefox for a couple months now, and I just ran into this problem today with English text nearby Japanese text: https://files.catbox.moe/diw4y3.png

  • It's not affecting Japanese text
  • It's not exclusive to Japanese websites (it's present in one email in gmail, but not all of them)
  • I haven't seen it on any Japanese websites
  • It's also present in some add-ons that generate text (Checker Plus for Gmail, Yomichan)
  • Turning off all add-ons doesn't fix it, but opening the page in a private window does fix it
