The push for more AI is absolutely asinine. Mozilla has been my first and only choice for ages because I trust them to have the best interests of their consumers at heart. This push towards more AI is going to kill the fans of Mozilla. It’s insane that they would read the room with the failures of Copilot among other things and go “yea, sign us up for that.” I understand this is a company driven by profits, but dear god this is a terrible terrible move and I expect the fallout of this decision to be swift and severe.

Chase bank has recently put a front end check that blocks all users with Windows 7 ,8 ,8.1. They have a page that says the browsers need to be changed to ones supported, yet they ignore the version of the browser "Firefox Setup 115.31.0esr.exe" which Mozilla updates monthly for security fixes. Thus they are effectively forcing anyone that bought a computer from 10/22/2009 to 01/10/2023 14 years.

I would like to know the number of users that are using the Firefox Setup 115.31.0esr release so that I can make Chase aware of how many home users they are impacting with this front end block to logging into Chase for our checking, savings, credit cards and mortgages. With some actual numbers they may reverse this problem by simply removing the front end check of windows version before allowing user login.

Without some idea of the potential number of users being blocked from access, they may just continue to ignore us.

And now that Windows 10 is not longer a supported version of Windows, will that be next. Steven Hudson [edited email from community support forum]

Is there a reason that the Firefox family has to curate such left wing propaganda websites for normal Americans to read?

The Firefox family clearly has great disdain for the average American who doesn't want to be forced to read DNC / Democrat talking points via the "curated thread". Just be honest: it's the DNC curating Firefox's news just as the FBI curated who was allowed to talk on X. Just be up front with everyone. Firefox is sort of like the Bluesky of internet browsers. Here is a crazy concept: Instead of shoving your views down the throats of average Americans. How about let us citizens choose are own news sources? Crazy concept. Or are you Big Brother? Seriously. Get a clue if you want the 60% of ordinary people to keep using your browser as I have done for 15 years give or take. I get that I can turn off the propaganda your are displaying but choice would be better. If you would like to discuss, I'm all ears.

Let’s Retire the Word “Chatbot”—It’s Time for Firefox to Call LLMs What They Are!

Hi Firefox community,

I’m not your usual tech influencer or a corporate “enthusiast”—I’m just a longtime open source user who’s spent more than a few years behind the veiled curtain, watching how this world of software and possibility unfolds. I love what Mozilla does for users like me. That’s exactly why I want to raise something: I keep seeing the word “chatbot” show up for Firefox’s new AI-powered assistants (like the sidebar and what’s coming next). But let’s be honest—“chatbot” belongs to the days of robotic customer service and scripted dead-ends.

What we have now in Firefox—powered by real LLMs (Large Language Models)—is a whole different species. Calling these assistants “chatbots” just doesn’t fit. It sells short what LLM-based assistants can do: they’re powerful, context-aware, and, at times, strikingly human in their conversation. New users might miss the true magic if we stick to old language. So why not call them “AI assistants,” “LLM-powered assistants,” or just “AI” instead? It would help everyone see the progress, and show how Mozilla’s still leading, not just catching up.

I’ll leave it open for discussion, but I hope others feel this shift too. Language shapes how we see these things—and sometimes it takes a Singular Fella (or maybe two) to nudge the world past old memes. Thanks for hearing me out, and here’s to a future where our assistants, and our words, keep getting smarter.

There are so many reasons why people don't want AI on Firefox. If I wanted AI, I'd go and use a chromium browser. I came to Firefox to get away from AI bull, not to have it shoved down my throat here as well.

If the new AI changes roll out I'm going to be finding another browser that won't risk my privacy just for a machine that only works half the time or add to AI centers destroying the environment. Thanks!

I am extremely disappointed that the new CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo is trying to push AI onto one of the only good browsers left that HASN’T implemented AI. The biggest reason that I switched from Google Chrome to Firefox was because Firefox wasn’t using AI. It’s unnecessary, terrible for the environment, incorrect, and I don’t want it. I will be switching to another browser if AI is implemented in Firefox’s future. Don’t bow down to AI.

I just found out the hard way that trying to add troubleshooting information to a question can cause one to lose whatever was written as clicking "try these manual steps" opens in the same tab and erases everything one has written.

"Troubleshooting Information (optional): We can't automatically get your browser's troubleshooting data, please try these manual steps."

Please add a note that clicking on "try these manual steps" will cause you to lose everything you have typed in previously - so right click and click "Open link in new tab"
