Hi, I was having problem with Firefox last night and the AOL mail and decided to do a Refresh. That messed up everything and all of my settings were gone.Then I did a Restore in my computer hoping to bring the old Firefox back. Instead I lost all of my bookmarks, downloads and saved passwords just like I just started from day one with Firefox. I use my books marks and passwords all of the time and need them back as soon as possible. I somehow technically inclined but please do not give me complicated solutions I cannot follow. I am desperate.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Recently, Firefox updated itself and I started having problems. The most annoying one is that it creates a new default profile and replaces my existing one every once in a while. It seems to happen every week or so. I copy over my addtional profile files, but it keeps happening. Three family members use the PC, but I seem to be the only one affected.

I did a complete uninstall and reinstalled a fresh copy of Firefox, but no luck. Any ideas?

Suddenly I am not able to get to home page ighome. It keeps timing out. When I do a search for it I am told it is unsafe. I have been using it for years!! I did a Firefox refresh and it messed everything up!!

Thought I was updating Firefox when I clicked refresh. Now have a page that does not look like what I had. I cannot access my email-says it can't connect. I looked in the forums and found one article about finding the "Old Firefox data" folder but not sure where that is. Tried signing in but would not recognize my password-clicked to have an email sent but no email came. I think I am in mozilla support now as I recreated a new password. Totally lost as how fix this problem as I obliviously have limited computer experience. I have Firefox 44.0 and Windows 10.

After a force quit today, I restarted Firefox only to find it appeared to have forgotten me completely -- all of my bookmarks were gone, my history was wiped clean, I was logged out of various websites, my homepage was reset to the default...

Following the preexisting advice, I refreshed Firefox, which created a new profile but did not return my data, and I have attempted to restore my bookmarks, which results in a message saying "Unable to process the backup file." I have been running the Places Maintenance add-on for some time now and it has yet to move on from the "checking integrity..." stage.

This is the second time Firefox has deleted my history, but the first it has taken my bookmarks. I am extremely frustrated and upset.

I am running Firefox 46.0.1 on a MacBook Pro with OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

I refreshed my Firefox but the bookmark file the Help Document said would be in the Old Firefox data folder is not there. As you can see in the image I do not have a file called "places.sqlite". I only refreshed Firefox under the indication that I would not lose any of my bookmarks (they would be saved and I could get them back).

I had many bookmarks. Are they lost now?

I want to use the Firefox>Advanced search option. It has disappeared from Setup. Can anyone please state where it was moved to?

This was very useful to narrow down a search to include only those that were relevant to a search. Why has this been put out of reach? That is a simple question, and perhaps there is a technical reason that it had to be removed because of Microsoft's new Windows 10 (?) but will be put back later. It's like taking 10 steps backwards anytime a browser search is undertaken. Please note that Google, for example, still has this type of browser search interface, making what Firefox has done a downgrade.

I am sorry to be so critical, but to a certain extent we have all become captive to what is presented to us as Internet Search tools. Downgrades are a BIG disappointment. I have always thought that, even what we were presented as search tools was inadequate. For example, only one phrase was allowed, which could result in 100's of results, whereas two phrases would narrow the search considerably.

Now it seems that Firefox doesn't any longer even provide one phrase, a place for words that must be included and another place for words to be excluded. How does this represent progress?

I refreshed Firefox, now Lastpass and Ghostery don't show up in my toolbar or work anymore (Mac OS 10.9.5). I removed the Lastpass extension, then reinstalled to no avail. Oddly, Adblock Plus is in my toolbar and works fine. Attached photo shows Adblock, but no Lastpass or Ghostery icons in my toolbar.

Because of some problems I am having with Firefox, I refreshed it. However, that made things worse. I noticed that Firefox made an "Old Firefox Data" folder. Can I assume, then, that there is a way to use that old info to restore Firefox? If there is, please let me know.

I looked in your knowledge but couldn't find anything to unrefresh Firefox.

I received a message that my computer was running slow and to refresh Firefox. It took a LONG time for it to do this and now it isn't working at all. I get a message that it doesn't recognize my information. I've uninstalled it and tried downloading but still get the same message! What do I do?!

PLEASE HELP!!! I did the new profile. I've lost all my extensions-especially she whole page I had on super start I also lost all my bookmarks. HELP!! I had 150 to 200 very important bookmarks I went to Carbonite and they restored them to my desktop, but they said I would have to get someone from Mozilla put them back. How can I do that? I also had The Saved Password Editor which I reinstalled, but all my passwords are gone.

Im not good on this, i refreshed it, only because you e-mailed me & asked, BIG MISTAKE NOw I don't have my g-mail (copy this page), Instead I have bookmarks,, across the top that I rarely use, (the outlook express e-mail has never worked,) so I rely on that Gmail to send pages, i should have deleted YOUR E mail, this screwed me up, royally

after cleaning, all my bookmarks, disappeared I was able to find old ones from august 5, 2015, but I am missing hundreds of the most recent Also I can not add any new bookmarks

My firefox was running slow so I shut it down from task manager. When I opened it back up i got a pop up saying something about a refresh I wasn't thinking and click yes and it wiped everything off my browser. I tried looking in the options and saw no way to retrieve my data from my account which I thought was suppose to be backed up to my account. Why else would I be syncing to an account. So after that failed. I tried system restore to earlier that day. When I opened firefox everything was still gone. I then went back 4 days way before the refresh. Still firefox bookmarks and everything else was gone. I saw in a youtube video where you can find a back up on you computer and replaced the profile it gave me a error about profile can't be loaded. So I reinstalled firefox and still got the same error. I've tried reinstalling it like 10 times now.

Additionally, I can't access the "Make this page my Home page" utility either, and since I had Morning Coffee opening all those tabs as my home page, I'm a bit confused. Right now I'm using the "Most Visited" and opening all the tabs. Is this the "New Normal" Helpful suggestions of a not overly technical nature appreciated. Thanks. I just checked your educated guesses about my current browser and OS, and I'll just add that I don't knowingly use Chrome anything.

Hey there, recently had to perform a reset/refresh on my Mozilla due to some issues with lag (has fixed problem thus far), but in doing so lost all of my application opening settings - as in preferences -> applications. I now do not have the option to 'open with' or 'do this automatically from now on' with certain applications, for example torrents, as seen in my image attached. I was previously able to download a torrent and open with transmission automatically. I have tried all possible options and guides - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file#w_adding-download-actions - from here to no avail. Can anyone provide some clarity and/or solutions on the issue?

Home (house) icon has disappeared from search bar and Mozilla home page comes up blank without central search bar and Mozilla mission statement. What do I do to reset to default, please?

For instance when I try to open my LastPass password managing software, it says it cannot find the file. I also now have an "Old Firefox Data" file on my desktop. Is it possible to restore Firefox ?

A message showed up when I opened FireFox saying "your Mozzila is running slooow refresh your Mozzilla today. So I did the refresh. I now have lost bookmarks and settings. Also the sync I did with the program weeks ago no longer works AND WORST OF ALL You Added Add-Ons I DIDN'T Need or Want without even asking. So Now I have to spend a bunch of time getting it set up the way I liked It. Or maybe Not. Is definitely time to find a new BROWSER!
