Hi, I get an email daily from Euro news group but the links don't work anymore and I don't have any way to allow permission to load the page. I use a VPN so my security should be good. It all worked OK a month ago and if I do a search for Euro News and click the link, the page loads without a problem. Regards, David.

Today I was trying to login in a site and didn't know the password. So I tried to open the "Passwords" tab on the firefox menu. It opened but there were zero logins and passwords there, while I had dozens before.

I searched on google and found very few problems like mine, mostly from old posts. The solution presented there had something to do with enabling e10s (multiple process support). I don't know what this is but I saw that multiple process was already enabled on my firefox and I didn't change anything recently.

There was a firefox update pending (haven't updated in months) so I did the update AFTER I had these problems. The update didn't solve anything apparently.

Then I decided to reinstall firefox but first I wanted to backup some files (bookmarks, passwords, login, etc). This is when another issue appeared. I couldn't copy/paste some of these files. It said I needed a permission. But I'm the "admin" on this PC, only I use this computer, so I should have permissions to everything. I tried changing permissions on the properties/security tab of the file, but everything was already checked to "allow". The only thing that is not checked is "special permissions", but I can't change that.

So I thought maybe there is a process open "holding" these files so I restarted windows. After the restart, I still couldn't copy those files. Renaming the files also isn't allowed. Then I decided to come here and post about this problem, but didn't remember my login to this site. So I opened the "passwords" tab again and to my surprise everything was restored there.

So my main issue was solved, but I'm still trying to understand what happened. Why I couldn't see the logins and passwords before. And why I can't copy those files to create a backup.

A few extra information: I don't use firefox profile, so I don't sign and don't sync with anything. The most recent change to the computer was a windows update (1 or 2 days ago). I didn't change anything else in weeks.

Hello everyone, I'm asking for help/support for a "not" problem but my doubt, which is making me worry. I apologize if I write a lot and if I ask more than one question. I begin to tell you that I have firefox with "update without User Controll in background" and my only extensions are Ublock,Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere and WOT and nothing else. Last night (around 1:00) I started my firefox (by clicking on the icon that doesn't have administrator permissions) and the window to install the updates appeared, initially I refused and went to Help --> About Firefox and clicked there to restart. Once restarted, the window reappeared and I accepted by installing the updates So after I updated firefox it started with the main screen saying "that I could now edit pdfs by opening them in firefox". My question is: was it right to install them this way? After installing I thought that User Control actually never asks me for updates, I also checked Update History in the configurations and the 111.0 update ran on March 15th at 7:57pm (I had done it all around 1 :00am at night on the 16th, is this normal?) What makes me worry is that after doing the update the internet was disconnected (not letting me connect to my router or smartphone hotspot. I restarted the pc and it had no more problems (say it's a coincidence and there am I thinking too much?) However I did scans with both Avira and Malwarebyte and finally with AdwCleaner which found nothing Surely I had hardly ever noticed it, but however I notice that in the task manager even having only one tab open in the browser I have more than 10 (11 or 12, I am attaching a screen) firefox processes, is this also normal? what advice can you give me?

I apologize for the very long message I wrote

I hate seeing a notification every time I did a screen shot, and had to reset the option to block them every time I freshly opened the browser. Now, this option is no longer available: "Pause notifications until Firefox restarts. This feature was great when it was first implemented but it seems to be increasingly unusable. It flatly refuses to generate passwords on many sites seemingly because there is a flag set in the textbox's code disabling auto-complete. It won't allow you to customize the types of passwords that are generated e.g. length, complexity, excluded characters, etc. This wouldn't be such an issue if there was a way to manually generate a password but there seems to be no tool for this anywhere in the settings and no plans to add this feature. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't actually like and actually use the password manager but I do. I rely upon it almost daily and it is extremely disheartening to see it repeatedly confounded by poor design and implementation.

My corporate network is being hammered by connections to firefox-settings-attachments.cdn.mozilla.net.

When looking at the squid logs, I see the following: access.log:1678216931.488 170104 1.2.3.155 TCP_TUNNEL/200 11400353 CONNECT firefox-settings-attachments.cdn.mozilla.net:443 - CARP/1.2.2.11 -

If I understand correctly, this connection is to download new files that pertain to security, cert revocation lists, blocklists, plus a bunch of non-security related stuff.

The question is, how do I make this file downloaded as small as possible while still keeping the security bits... (saw this page, and followed what I thought pertinent https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections) The second question is... can we change the download schedule of these downloads?

If you are asking why I am having network issues over 11 Mb, the answer is that all my clients go through a corporate proxy... We have many thousand devices and last time we choked the network with 80GB downloaded on a timeframe of 15 min.

Thanks much!

Fred

I was previously able to connect to my local NAS using the server name, but now cannot. I verified that the server certificate error exception is still listed.

Here is the text of the error message I receive:

"Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site. We can’t connect to the server at [server name redacted]. Did you mean to go to www.[server name redacted].com? If you entered the right address, you can:

   Try again later
   Check your network connection
Check that Firefox has permission to access the web (you might be connected but behind a firewall)"

I am able to connect using the IP address.

Hello,

This is of GENERAL INTEREST, since "Click & Clean" is not available from FF anymore, whilst other people have obviously hijacked the name, and other FF add-ins and add-ons are of very doubtful origin... not even speaking of (notwithstanding its pricing...) CCleaner having bought (some time ago, but it invariably appears at, or near, the top of any google search for browser protection) by We-Spy-Avast. So:

1) It' been known for many years that FF refuses js in address bar; bookmarklets have been praised as a work-around. Thus, a bookmarklet named "some", with keyword "s", and with "javascript:alert(1);" even continues to work today, by entering "sEnter" in the address bar. (The alleged work-around to reset about:config?filter=browser.urlbar.filter.javascript to false having been abandoned many years ago...)

2) It seems that FF tries to wrongly "protect" its settings by all means? Speaking about about:preferences#privacy where the "Inspect (Q)" doesn't work, but where by looking at the source code, I was able to identify the "Clear Data" button as button id="clearSiteDataButton" or then: data-l10n-id="sitedata-clear" (whatever that means...), whilst

2a) on that page, the buttons (among others) "Clear Data" has the "l" (lowercase-L) underlined, "Manage Data" has the "M" underlined, and ditto for the "Manage Data" dialog then, in which the button "Remove Selected" has the "R" underlined, the "Save Changes" button comes with an underlined "a", and the the "Remove All" has its first "e" underlined, etc., etc. - whilst NO a, r, e or whatever, also with "alt" or with "control", then would ever activate or trigger those buttons, which arises the question, "WHY come those buttons with an underlined character, when they are not available BUT by - physical-only? - mouse click anyway?"? Or HOW would I then access those buttons by keyboard, their underlined characters obviously not working anymore? (?)

2 again) And so, I changed the above (then working) bookmarklet's url to: javascript:document.getElementById("clearSiteDataButton").click(); and now, when I trigger that bookmarket on the about:preferences#privacy page, nothing happens:

Have I made a js mistake here? Or does FF simply prevents any FF user's try to protect themselves, with material-on-board?

(I understand I can just send a mouse click to that button by AutoHotkey or similar, and that's what I currently do, send a click to x1150, y1320 into the FF window, but obviously, those values depend on my screen (size, resolution, etc), and my hiding both the menu bar and the bookmarks toolbar...)

(We're not 3-years-olds, but perhaps, the FF CEO has such children at home, and then extrapolates for the masses of money she gets? And no, even without add-ins, and lots of memory, FF has NOT been brought to a rally stable state yet...)

Hi Guys thank you for your time and effort that you voluntary offer to support Mozilla Firefox. I have been a lifelong user of Firefox. I have during this process lost 4 x laptops (over a span of 20 years) - reformatted the current one twice. My mistake - I neglected to backup Firefox.

I cannot and do remember what my primary Firefox account was. Their are bookmarks and saved passwords on it that I desperately need. Can you please help what what to do?

I have subscribed to new a [edited] @gmail.com primary account to to use Firefox again. I help with serial numbers, brand of the laptops that I have used in the past.

If you can help, please please help.
