Made several posts about floating videos and never one answer over the course of two years that I can recall. One of the biggest user problems with FF and we get -- nothing. If the developers are incapable of solving this go ahead and tell us ! We can look for other browser options. I have researched everything to do with the matter and the topic just round and round and round in circles. Dozens claim to have the answer but they are all full of hooey. Simple question -- time to start looking for options other than FF ?

Yes, I read your post about stopping the repeated prompts for the master password. You say go to settings, stop using a master password, restart Firefox -- then sometime later, you could start using one again. Wow. Please. There are times when I do not want to enter the master word, even when going to sites for which I saved passwords. For one thing, I can leave my computer for a while, without having to restart Firefox, lest someone has access to all my sites. But the prompt -master password "required"- comes back again and again. It can be ignored, and I can go to any site and log in (it's not really "required"), but the prompt comes back, again and again. You've received several complaints about this. Please, why can't you do the simple programing task of an option the user can select, saying "don't ask again (until you restart Firefox)."

Thank you.

p.s. if you can't manage that, please change the existing prompt to more honestly read: "Enter your master password. Firefox thinks you're an idiot for not entering your master password, so even though it's not strictly required to sign in to web sites, we're going to ask you again and again, unless you go the trouble of stopping use of master word and then the trouble to restart it. Because that's how Firefox works, and our programmers don't know how, or we don't care enough, to give you the option to suspend this prompt."

Greetings from North-East of France, since a few weeks ago I'm seeing a (sort of) pop-up window suggesting to login with a Google account (see the screenshot attached). I've done some internet search to find out how to get rid of it, but the only suggestion I get is to modify an option in a Google account. However, I do not have a Google account! How to get rid of this disturbing pop-up? I already use Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin, yet Google passes through them! Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

Disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer

You can also set a different third-party PDF viewer to handle PDF files, instead of Firefox’s built-in PDF viewer. To switch from using the built-in PDF viewer to another viewer: 1. Click the menu button and select . 2. In the panel, go down to the Applications section. (SO WHERE IN THE HELL IS THIS SECTION???) YOU CAN'T DO I never selected Mozilla to open any pdf and there's no where to opt out or change based on what all the troubleshooting tips say... All these tips must be located on a much older version of Firefox cause they ain't in my version OR they are hid under some dubious section... Pretty frustrating....when you want to use Adobe and can't cause I'm locked in under Firefox....don't know how that has happened unless it was done automatically under one of the many current upgrades that have been coming down over the last month.

Dear Support, I posted my js-library on the hosting https://rombase.ru/o5/olga5/o5.js and copied it to https://leonrom.github.io/o5/olga5/o5.js

I try to connect to it from Blogger, for example: https://olga-5.blogspot.com/2020/02/olga5-shp.html?o5debug=2 and I change the link to the library's hosting in the <head> of my blog.

The Chrome browser works the same way wherever o5.js is located. But Mozilla, when placed on rombase.ru, swears in the console: `The resource at “https://rombase.ru/o5/olga5/o5.js” was blocked by Safe Browsing`

My Firefox is 109.0.1 (64 bit) under MX Linux

Could you please tell me: what is the "safety"-difference between rombase.ru and leonrom.github.io? What shall I change in rombase.ru to work properly?

Thank you PS Connecting via VPN (from Ukraine) does not help

My Firefox recently updated itself to version 112.0 - since then, when I close all its windows and then run FF again, on all websites opened in tabs (e.g. Facebook, Google Search etc.) I am logged off. In previous FF versions, my logged-in status was preserved between individual FF runs. Firefox not only logs me out of all sites, but also logs me out of the LastPass extension, which also stayed logged in in previous Firefox versions. Anyone knows what is going on? How do I stop Firefox from out of control data clearing? There is a window under Privacy & Security / History / Clear History that opens a window that allows a user, in theory, to choose which components to clear (cookies, cache, etc.) In that window is a pull down menu to specify the time range to clear. A screen shot of that is attached. I do NOT want my cookies cleared unless I say so. I do not want cookies or some of the other components cleared from the last hour, I don't want them cleared from the last two hours or the last four hours or today. (And the "Everything" reference does not make sense syntactically in this setting.) A screen shot of that menu is attached.

It does not matter if I uncheck one or all of those boxes by cookies, cache, etc. When I open the browser the next time, they are checked again -- AND THE MOFO COOKIES HAVE TO BE MANAGED AGAIN, ETC., ETC., ETC.

What have a setting if Firefox is going to arbitrarily clear everything immediately or once and hour or by some criterion it has not revealed to the user -- nor has informed the user exists?

Anyone have any thoughts on a work-around?

Thanks.

I am a UK user and have just installed and started to use Firefox on a brand new Linux Mint installation. As I am transferring from a Windows/Chrome environment, there is a lot of setting up to do. Firefox transferred most of the chrome info for me, and so I was able to get up and running with bookmarks and logins quite quickly. However, there is one problem that I can't seem to resolve.

I have been able to set up my credit card details, and these are prompted when needed, BUT, Firefox will not remember my name, email, phone or address. Thus for every form that I have to fill, I have to enter these details, again and again (and again).

I have looked at settings and see that the 'Autofill Address' option is not present (see attachment).

I have followed and implemented the fix proposed elsewhere, to update/add GB as an address format. This has not made a difference.

Can anyone please help.

Regards,

Mark

On a late model Dell laptop, there are no domains listed under Exceptions-Cookies and Site Data. When I key in a domain (whether using www., http, https, or just the domain name by itself.) and click on Allow, that website is not added. It's the same as if browser security is stuck on Remove All Websites. With the same Privacy and Security settings on my desktop, I do not have this problem, so it appears not to be a matter of altering particular settings. Short of removing and reloading Firefox on the laptop, which might work but not teach anybody anything, are there suggestions?

I am the administrator of my account on Google Workspace. I have no idea what the problem is. I have MFA turned on and I am able to log in to Google with Chrome and Edge. I don't see an option on the Google Admin security tab to create a new security key. Please advise on a fix. Thanks

Hello.

Current Settings: Enhanced Tracking Protection-Standard Without the Free Adblock installed.

Goal: Minimize tracking and pop-up ads from appearing during my browser session:

Please answer each question separately:

Q1. Is the Standard option sufficient or should it be set to strict?

Answer:

Q2a. Does the Standard option OR the Strict option provide the features of an ad-block or does the free Adblock needs to be installed as well in order to receive full protection?

b. When I was about to install the Free Adblock, a warning came up asking me if it was the best adblocker and confirming that the extension would have permission to access my data from all websites, extend developer tools to access my data in open tabs, display notifications to me, access my browser tabs, and access browser activity during navigation/

Do I really want to install Adblock knowing all of the above details?

My profile directory is all messed up as well. I don't have a pluginreg.dat, my extensions.sqlite is an extensions.json. I have been reading all the forums but they mention stuff about the files in the profile, but I don't have those files.

I have had it with Firefox playing cop. I really have. I have a site that I visit frequently but these past two updates have now broken my ability to sign into the site at all, even in private mode. All I get is the shield and human icons with the strike-through and the error message on the user name/password field that says: This Connection Is Not Secure. Logins Entered Here Could Be Compromised. Learn More.

I've hit the escape button, tried private windows, done everything I can including resetting which was my last resort and which I hate doing, there's no more whitelist, no way to bypass anything, this is totally unacceptable that I cannot get past this. Firefox is becoming more useless to me as they try to become more and more in control of what I can and cannot do. If there is no override to this, then I have to find a different browser because it's pretty useless to use one browser for some sites and another for other sites, don't you think? So if someone has a workaround for this problem, can you please tell me what it is?

I went to Privacy and Security permissions and in the box "Settings Camera Permissions" it appears to me that I'm only allowed to remove permissions, not add them. The box says that it contains the list of websites that have asked permission to use my camera. The box is empty.

I tried putting the desired website in the line on top, thinking I might add it, then tried alternatively both "enter" and "save", and nothing was added to the box below. The box remained empty.

When I would go into Bing, I would go into settings and change from "Moderate" to "Strict"; I would also uncheck "Search Suggestions" so suggestions don't fill in as I type. Then I would click "Save". Until recently, these settings held with no problem. Now after I click "Save" and go back to the main screen in Bing (or come back to Bing after being somewhere else), I'm back to "Moderate" and suggestions fill in as I type. Microsoft claims this is Firefox's issue and needs to be fixed at Firefox's end. Others are posting on Microsoft's answers forums, some also using Firefox, but not all. I love Firefox and I'm not changing to something else, so can you tell me how this Bing issue might be fixed? Thank you.

Got sick and tired of having to enter payment card info every time, so I decided to RTFM and follow instructions. I worked my way thru all the instructions on found on the forum pages, and was entering the information via about:config, and got to the popup where I was asked to confirm, and clicked the button, then clicked it harder, but nothing happened.

My guess is that my Firefox and/or my Leap15.3 installation has left some file permission read-only and Firefox is unable to save this bit of data, but I really don't want to run Firefox as root. I can say more, but I see there are more boxes to fill.

So, I included a screenshot of what I hope will be the useful part of my config file.

Hi all :)

From a fresh Linux Debian Bullseye I try to connect to a local machine with Firefox (v97 64-bits) by its hostname (avahi server with default domain "local") with the port 6180 bound to a remote web service port (61 is the distant machine IP and 80 is the forwarded port).

When I want to open this URL : http://bionic.local:6180/ FF displays "We can't find this site ... Unable to connect to server at bionic.local ... check your network connection and firewall"

BUT ping bionic.local works perfectly and resolve the good IP address from the Chromium navigator the same URL works without a problem, I can open the distant web site.

This workaround works : add a static resolution in the /etc/hosts file : 192.168.0.71 bionic bionic.local => so FF works in the expected way for now ! But as I said this a workaround and a bad solution.

I supposed too the port was blocked because I accessed an unusual port. So I tried this without success.

How the hell make that FF v97 allows me to use an unusual port ? Or is it bound to the domain "local" which is no more accepted by FF ?

Thank you in advance for your help. With adelphity, lnj
