Hello. I just created a master password to protect my website passwords. However, this master password is required to start a session with Firefox. My suggestion is that you do not require the master password to start a Firefox session, only to access the passwords information, or to create and remember a login password for a new website. It is a hassle to enter the master password every time I want to use Firefox. Or should I keep firefox open the entire day?

Hello, We run a website that uses a bookmarklet button which allows us to capture the current URL location and save it. This is placed on the Tool Bar where its easy for a user to use. Until now, its been working perfectly but with this latest update to FireFox we are seeing the pop-up blocking being activated with the yellow message bar at the top. Now this would be ok if we only had to allow the pop up once (by clicking allow site), but unfortunately the bookmarket button has to be able to work on all sites, which is the whole point of the button. So its impractical to keep allowing it every time its used. Disabling the pop-up blocker completely then works, but then the browser is open to other pop-ups. Is there any way to allow bookmarklets to display a pop up and not display a pop-up message? Without having to disable the entire pop-up functionality. Can the FF developers allow for user placed bookmarklets to not be pop-up blocked. Maybe an exception added for that. They are placed manually by the user so are allowed by the user only.

Thanks for reading. Paul.

Hello,

I am getting a McAfee pop up notification and I have identified the site name and would like to add it to the notifications settings to block it but I cannot figure out how to add a site manually to that list. There are no options on the notification settings to allow for a manual site addition. I am on FireFox version 88.0.1 on Windows 10 Pro.

I have also tried searching to see how to remove what is probably malware and cannot find anything. I do not have any McAfee products on my laptop.

Sincerely,

AmazonPrincessDiana

I am trying to disable Firefox notifications whenever I take screenshots, and googling for solutions, I found the commonly suggested solution is to uncheck the "Pause notifications until Firefox restarts" box in Permissions:

How to turn off forever the "screenshot" splash notification

"shot Copied" window

This option is not available in my browser version; thus, I'm hoping there's a newer workaround for this.

Last night my Firefox 94.0.2 was hacked. When running Firefox, it would lock up my desktop. It disabled Norton Security, it disable other installed security software, and it disabled Windows System Restore. The hacker put up a message claiming to be Microsoft Support, with a phone number to call for help. This was a scam. I ran Firefox refresh, and that removed the hacker's program from Firefox, but then I had to do a full repair of my Window's installation. To protect my system, and prevent this from happening again, I added "xpinstall.enabled = false" into about.config. Please let me know if this will prevent a web site from installing a dangerous hack into Firefox, or if there is something else that I need to do. I have used Firefox for years, and have never encountered this problem before. Firefox is my favorite browser, but I am now afraid to use it. Please advise me what to do. Thanks, Jim

I go to yahoo.com and look at articles on that web site. When I click on the article I see a grey box with no content. I have turned off hardware acceleration. I have no add ons except roboform which I use for storing passwords. I have removed all cookies and temp files using CCleaner. Yahoo.com works with no alterations in Chrome and Edge. I like Firefox but do not understand why default settings do not work with Yahoo.com. I am using version 95.0 64bit on a Win 11 machine.

Facts:

I selected PRIVACY as TOPIC for this THREAD Mozilla gets big money from Google Mozilla Firefox stands for privacy (or... was standing for privacy) Google stands for tracking, spyware, adversting, anti-privacy. Privacy taking money from bloody Anti-Privacy, it could never end well. Recently i noticed firefox has changed, and not in a good way. New fancy looks, which is infact not fancy but harder to navigate. When klicking on the settings icon which previously directly brought me to settings, it now takes me to a stupid option that requires one more klick to open the settings, btw microsoft is doing the exact same with windows 11, you still have all the settings but you have to klick one or two more times to get there, why are doing this???

I think... Mozilla has lost it's way. Proof me wrong? A while back i asked crowdicity.com what is happening to firefox, post was immediatly deleted... Will this post be deleted or my account? Maybe. But at this point i dont even care anymore.

I mean, look at this! ---> https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/tgqyox/each_firefox_download_has_a_unique_identifier/

Considering how many closed/archived threads there are about this, you'd think it'd be fixed by now.

There have been add-ons like "New Tab Homepage" that worked to correct this but every time there is a solution, an 'update' corrects the 'problem' by forcing the search engine back to the toolbar.

After many years of trying solutions I've come to the conclusion that this is a deliberate 'feature', much like the many completely useless 'features' added to Windows for reasons known only to Microsoft, and the companies they share your data with.

Someone prove me wrong, please.

Latest Firefox update 104.0 started displaying "This connection is not secure. Logins entered here could be compromised" again after previously being disabled. It's an annoying message that pops up on my intranet logins and I want it disabled again. I did the usual in about:config and set security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled to False and security.insecure_password.ui.enabled to False like previously, but the message is still there. It seems that latest update is forcing this message and ignoring the settings to disable them. Please help!

Hello,

this topic is about two things.

1. How do I reset the data of the built-in Protections Dashboard without resetting all of Firefox?

2. and probably more complicated, how do I stop Firefox from checking for "Login breach information"?

I do already have and always had "Show alerts about passwords for breached web sites" in options disabled. Still the Dashboard shows that "1 password stored securely.".

Mozilla says "[i]Firefox Monitor warns you if your online accounts were involved in a known data breach. For more information, see Firefox Password Manager - Alerts for breached websites. To get the latest login breach information and more, Firefox connects to firefox.settings.services.mozilla.com/i"

So now I've gone as far as blocking "firefox.settings.services.mozilla.com" through HOSTS. Still the Dashboard shows that "1 password stored securely.".

Why is it still checking? How is it still checking? How do I stop this?

A msg. suddenly appeared at the top of my ff general settings page saying "your organization is managing your browser". Upon clicking on it it appears that Chrome has taken over most of my ff settings and disabled some of them. I have NO organization; I am retired and have a personal computer that only I use for personal things. I have run numerous anti malware programs that have found nothing. I have restored the computer to a much earlier time. I chose Firefox, NOT Chrome. Please help me get rid of this. And please don't assume I have knowledge as I am old and not very computer literate so if you could use simple terms I can understand that would be much appreciated. If no help, what can I do next to get some. Thank you I am using Windows 7 home premium on an older Dell business machine.

As Firefox doesn't allow you to prevent updates, is there a way to get the HTTPS switches working, or is this another introduced bug we are supposed to put up with? If I attempt to access my router using 192.168.1.1 Firefox automatically changes the address to https://192.168.1.1. Guess what you morons: NONE OF MY ROUTERS USE HTTPS AND CANNOT BE ACCESSED! Instead I now use Edge which allows what I enter to be used and gives me access. Another reason to dump this crap. Why is it that each and every time I am forced to update: I don't get a choice, I get another reason not to use Firefox. If you charged for this crap the developers would have been sacked long ago. Please don't insult my intelligence by pointing me Privacy & Settings because none of the options make any difference. So when can we expect to get working software?

For a few days now, Firefox (Dev. Edition, version 90) has not allowed me to manually visit http:// websites, and automatically and silently redirects to their https:// version. This is on every single website I have tried.

Things that I have tried:

Disable/remove HTTPS Everywhere Enable then re-disable built-in Firefox HTTPS Only Mode

Restart Firefox 'Forget about this site' Clear cache Clear site preferences A bunch of stuff in about:config (fallback-to-https, stricttransportpreloadlist etc)

Any? I dont trust google when they call something save. Are there extensions or third party addons any sort of plugins, is there any other company on earth offering save-browsing?
