Hello Everyone - Today the background colour of both tabs bar and search bar changed to a wishy-washy pale blue which makes it much harder to read anything there. I am not aware that I have changed any setting myself. And I dont recall any FF update yesterday or today... I have looked through all the FF "settings" options and found nothing relevant there. Is there maybe an option buried somewhere to change the background colour? Oh, and I am not a geek or a nerd, so cannot understand any nitty-gritty stuff! Thank you for your time.

My tab bar and menu bar background is white. I have the latest FF version and I hear it should be black but it isn't. It used to be but I may have changed something and lost it?

How do I make it black for ease of visibility - but not the web pages (just the upper bars). I have searched for hours and none of the answers either match what to do, or work.

Firefox 89 on my Raspberry Pi 4 is displaying what I'm guessing is a codec issue. Videos can be watched but the picture is corrupted by brightly coloured patches around areas of detail.

Prior to the version 89 upgrade, version 88 was working perfectly.

I have Firefox 89 on a Raspberry Pi and a PC. On the PC it still works perfectly, on the Pi video is displayed badly.

On the Pi Firefox 89 is running under Ubuntu 21.04. On the PC Firefox 89 is running under Ubuntu 18.04

Am I alone in this or have others seen the same issue ?

Assuming I am not alone, does anybody have any idea what has gone wrong ?

Saying I do not like the lack of lines separating the tabs is an understatement. I don't know why but it is driving me nuts and triggering my anxiety and I'm not someone that would normally say stuff like that but it is.

Is there a way to make the tabs look like they used to with clear black lines between each tab?!?

I just started with 89.0 and instead of the horrid 15% of CPU that 88 used it now uses 30%. That's with an enormous amount of windows (not tabs) open, but most are limited by NoScript until I temp permit them. FX Task Manager shows very little usage, so apparently no ill behaved sites. AAR 30% of an i7 with many gigs of memory is intolerable. Even the 15% was heating up the CPU.

So I'll take "some" CPU heating vs. "massive" by rolling back to 88.0.1. By the way, whatever keeps changing my option from manually approved updates to automatic, thank you for doing that at times without asking me first.

The problem is that now when I start 88.0.1 it insists on a new profile "for my own protection". But I want the old profile, with hundreds of bookmarks and dozens or hundreds of session windows from my last session, and add-ins ... for example right how I don't have NoScript and don't have time to deal with that. I tried to get around the "we're just helping you" insistence on a new profile, by copying a week-old backup over C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hbouy3r1.default\sessionstore.jsonlz4 and starting but it still insists. I guess that's just sessions, not the whole profile.

Can I defeat the prohibition against using the old profile, or failing that, can I import or merge the old profile in? Keep in mind that the "old" profile has been modified by having started 89. I wish now that I had never selected the old profile when I began 89 (I always prompt for profile). (But, heck, I didn't even KNOW I was going to a new version. It auto-updated, and when I started FX, and it seems to have "updated" the old profile making it now unusable for a prior version).

Or can I go to a backup and copy the tree of C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\OldProfile\ and start FX again with 88.0.1? BTW I assume that is the version I was on a week ago.

For starters, stop making assumptions about how people prefer their spacing on menus and tabs. Both are, with the latest update, too effing large, resulting in less visible screen space and an excessive amount of scrolling to access bookmarks. Do you think everybody is blind?! I desperately want to go back to the spacing in the previous version of Firefox. Is there a way to do that without downgrading to v.88? Also, the change to the color scheme makes it a lot harder to quickly see which tab is active as there isn't enough contrast.

I stopped using Chrome except in emergencies because they kept taking away my options to make the browser comfortable to me. Mozilla is now doing the same thing and it really pisses me off. You say you are making things better and/or easier, but that is only your opinion. I know you can't please everybody but why take away the ability to make tabs and menus more compact so less space is wasted and scrolling doesn't take longer?

The "View History Sidebar" command is missing from the History menu after updating to Firefox 87. Is this a bug or was it intentional? The Bookmarks menu still has the "View Bookmarks Sidebar" command.

While I found it possible to work around the issue via Customize and adding the "Sidebars" control, this is quite unintuitive and awkward to have to use two different buttons in order to access your history. (IMHO, the History menu should just show the full history to remove the need for the sidebar, but that's a separate discussion.)

I have two defined log-in users on my custom-built Windows 7 Pro desktop. On the account I use, the last entry in the Page Actions menu the "Take a Screenshot" option lo longer appears at the bottom of the menu. However, on the other account the "Take a Screenshot" option does appear? I can find nothing in the Firefox 83.0 "Options" or "Customize" menu that can affect the Page Actions menu in any way, nor can I see any apparent difference in any other option in effect between the two user accounts' settings? Any ideas on how I can get my "Take a Screenshot option back, short of uninstalling Firefox from the computer and re-installing, wiping out both users' bookmarks, add-ons, etc.? Thanks.

Just gone - disappeared.

Does anyone have a solution to reset this?

Hello, all.

This is not a question but a pointer for those who have successfully been using userChrome.css to put the tabs where they belong, below the Bookmarks bar. :-)

If you used a userChrome.css solution such as that presented in threads like the support article "tabs on bottom release 72.0.1" (full disclosure, that is my solution), then you just need to add to the #TabsToolbar section one line:

top: var(--uc-titlebar-padding,86px);

You can play with the "86px" until you have the tabs where you like them. Depending upon my profile and other CSS options, I have to move that a few pixels up or down to get it looking just right.
