Hi,

I downloaded JDownloader yesterday. It forcefully installed some adware which became the default search engine, can't recall its name and Avast Antivirus. There was no option to uncheck them while installing. Since I didn't like JD at all so I uninstalled them all using Revo Uninstaller. Now while I searched something in the url bar few times that adware's page searched my keywords. I opened my settings and I got this message Your browser is being managed by your organization. PFA. This is my personal laptop connected to my personal wifi. Can I delete everything related to this junk without reinstalling FF? http://www.upl.co/uploads/14291556FF1580471775.jpg http://www.upl.co/uploads/161919FF-11580471781.jpg

Thanks

All I'd like to know is how to completely disable the ability of tabs crashing for any reason at all, permanently. I'd very seriously would rather the computer freeze or risk hardware damage, whatever pref(s) listed and unlisted I need to enable or disable I can put in lock file or anything. -Thanks!

https://twitter.com/_t3nshi/status/1169122796573736960

As far as I can tell, this is mainly a Windows 7 problem. I have done a fair bit of testing with gifs I've made myself, and while I don't exactly know how gif "encoding" or whatever works, it seems to be a problem with how Twitter converts certain gif versions.

If I make a gif with Aseprite 1.2.13-x64 the gifs do not work, and show up as black. However you can still download them as a video, reupload them, and then they work, which is kinda weird but I assume twitter re-converts the videos into something else.

However if I make the same gif with Aseprite 1.2.9 which is at least a year older, they work on Twitter.

I've seen some references about H.264 Level 5.2 not working on Windows 7, and maybe that might be the issue? If so, is there any way to get Level 5.2 media to play on Windows 7? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1479203#c10

Using MediaInfo to check the files of the videos in question they say that they are using AVC (Main@L5.2) (CABAC / 4 Ref Frames), while the "gifs" (yes I know that they are just videos on Twitter) that DO work are AVC (Main@L5).

I"ve read through other articles. My firefox and sync are up to date. I have bookmarks checked. I use two firefox on two different microsoft PCs. I tried changing my options in sync to see if the chances would show up in firefox on my other computer. They did, so I have that much right. I tried turning off bookmarks in the sync, syncing, then clicking the box and syncing again. I want to say it can't be me, but of course it has to be or everyone would be having the same problem.

Problem started yesterday afternoon when trying to upload photos to Walgreens.com for printing. Kept getting message "Firefox has stopped working. A problem is preventing the program from working correctly. Windows will close the program...." Tried uploading using Chrome & no problems at all. Problem continued today -- also getting the same error message in firefox options/add-ons/security, etc. Have restarted computer, refreshed firefox, ran in safe mode -- same thing happens. Bitdefender security is up-to-date Checked Mozilla Crash Reporter -- NOTHING shows for yesterday or today.

Bitdefender does show this info at approx. same timeframe as some of the crashes (although it only shows 3 instances & firefox crashed many more times than that) -- Potentially malicious application blocked 2 hours ago

Thought problem was just on MyPoints when viewing videos but occurred yesterday at InBoxDollas while playing a game.

    • 9/15 - Attached is one of the video screens with the website slowing...... In this group Postables - almost all had this come up. Sometimes just froze there & when I refreshed screen this ... website slowing.... came up & I had to StopIt for video to continue. {Often the screen would be Black as attached shows, sometimes black with an x in the middle so I refreshed}**

Last night I deleted History (except for personal.). Opened MyPoints this morning & went to Postables where half or more of the videos had this popup line stating Website slowing...... & I had to keep clicking on StopIt. I went to the video in image I added but the 2nd from there had this popup - slowing website.... So I guess deleting history helped some perhaps - but is still there. {Searched last night & all the ideas/thoughts listed to stop this went back to 2016. Before deleting History, I went to registry & searched for Firefox Pioneer and also Shockware - None were found.

Hello and thanks in advance for your help!

For many years, the content management system that I have been using has worked just fine with previous versions of Firefox. To access the backend area for a client of mine to edit their own website I built for them, they would go to their website and hit Control-Y on any page of their website. This would bring up the login prompt window so they could login and start live editing their site. Now, when I hit Control-Y, nothing happens.

I saw a previous post that mentioned adjusting (allowing) keyboard shortcuts in the settings area. I did this but unfortunately, this didn't solve my issue.

Can someone tell me why this no longer works with Firefox and what the possible fix / workaround might be?

Thank you so much!!

This has only been happening for about a week or so, but it seems to be getting gradually worse and worse to the point where I'm considering just using another browser. Basically what is happening is that whenever I'm using Firefox, it will very frequently stutter/lag. And by "frequently" I mean once every 2-4 seconds. This stutter hangs for about another 1-2 seconds before any inputs I attempted will suddenly and quickly catch up.

For instance, if I'm typing (like I'm doing with this description) it will regularly hang as I type for about a second or two. I can still type while it is hanging, but nothing will appear on the screen until it finishes its stutter, then it will suddenly just display everything that I typed.

-Important note: When I say "hangs" I don't mean in the tradition sense where the browser goes unresponsive. The browser does not freeze. In the case of me typing in a text box, the cursor still blinks as if it is waiting for input. If I'm watching a video, the video will continue to play, etc. What is "hanging" is literally my ability to input anything.

Another example: Scrolling. I'll attempt to scroll, then it will hang for a moment, then quickly jump to the location it 'should' have scrolled to.

This goes for literally any input. And Like I said before, it seems to be getting worse and worse gradually over time. It started as a negligible little hiccup that happened randomly. Then it got more frequent and more pronounced. Now I can't even type a full word without it lagging out. Just earlier I was watching a youtube video and tried to click my mouse to pause the video... but the video didn't pause for a full 3 seconds until after I clicked my mouse.

Things I have done so far:

  • I made sure I was using the most recent version of Firefox (69.0)
  • I downloaded chrome to test if that gave me the same issues. It did not. Everything worked super smoothly.
  • I looked at the resources Firefox was using in task manager and Firefox uses about 530mb of memory, and hovers between 4-11% of CPU usage.
  • I have already attempted a restore for Firefox, which did nothing to fix the issue.
  • I've made sure my graphics drivers where up to date.
  • I've disabled hardware acceleration in the settings.

I've been using Firefox for over 12 years now and I really don't want to switch browsers... but I don't know what else I can do.
