I have a file on my home computer that I use as a homepage -- it has links to all the websites that I visit frequently. If I go somewhere from that page, the Back arrow becomes grayed out. If I go somewhere else and then Home and then follow a link, the Back button is black, but offers only the page before my homepage in the history -- I have to use the Home button if I want to go back to my home page. This is workable, but very inconvenient and counter to years of habit on many browsers and many machines.

(Note: this problem started when my office gave me an updated computer, so I have no idea what setting might have changed!!)

This only started earlier last week, or late the week before. EVERY YouTube video, does not matter which one, who uploaded it, or when it was originally uploaded, EVERY video causes Firefox to hang for up to 10-15 seconds, ever time. And it hangs a second time if I scroll down far enough to load the comments section. So far, all I've seen being used now is the HTML5 player on YouTube, so it's something with that possibly. Regardless, it is incredibly frustrating.

Is this due to something changing with the last couple updates to FireFox, or a plugin I have being out of date (even though they all say they're fine)? If not, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Hi All,

Recently I noticed that downloading files using file manager is stopping at random times giving an error that hard drive can't keep up with the incoming data. I checked the Task Manager and noticed high I/O read bytes for FF. I was monitoring this for some time. After initial opening the amount of read data increased to 200MB within 5 seconds. Then when I was using the FF it increased to 1GB. On one occasion it reached 16BG within 4 minutes. This is causing my disk to slow down. The amount of data read I think depends on how many tabs I have open and how intensively I'm using FF.

Can someone help me to identify what is causing this?

Latest version of FF is used Add-ons and plug ins up-to-date Windows 10 x64

Thanks

running Win 7 x 64 on laptop. I refreshed Mozilla 41.0.1 because it was really laggy.

Unfortunately the lag seemed to get worse rather than better.

Also, I added back (only) the OneTab extension & was working on restoring what I had on there. Unfortunately, the import/export link loaded a page that constantly froze & also caused Mozilla to crash twice.

I got a unresponsive script message. Script: resource://gre/modules/commonj…-dot-com/onetab/data/import.js:5

Waiting did nothing. Debugging gave me a "This page has no sources." message.

I see a lot of plugins are still installed, even after refresh? That seems abnormal?

Thanks for any help.

Windows 10. Firefox version 41.0.1

This problem just started this morning. Firefox used to give me the option to open or save an image when I right clicked on the image and chose the "Save Image as..." option. Now it goes directly to the save option by opening my last directory location. As I wrote at the beginning of this question, this problem just started.

I have already gone to "Tools/Options/Applications/JPG File" and set it to "Always Ask." That did not work, I still do not get the "Open With" option. This is obviously not the solution.

I don't think I checked the "Always perform this action for this type of file" box because this problem now exists for all file types, including PDF and Word documents. None of them give me the option to open the document anymore.

I am not interested in any convoluted "work around" solutions, I just need to restore the option to view the image/document option that was previously available.

I have included full operating system and browser details (available from "Question Details" menu at the right) if anyone needs them.

These appear to be related to a couple of different javascript errors, but my "expertise" goes little further than that. This problem DOES seem to occur more often when there is video on a (even unloaded) tab, but can happen when looking at any page with any type of content, or while not looking at the browser at all (inactive window). I have also recently been getting "This browser does not support video playback" on Twitter, but I assume that is related to the change from anigifs to HTML5. I have tried refreshing Firefox, as well as completely restarting from a fresh install. My video drivers are up to date, moreso than my on-board Intel hardware. Hardware issues MIGHT be a possibility, so if anyone sees evidence of such a problem from the dumps, please advise me of it so I can close in on the root of the matter.

While trying to enter this info and search for answers, I also had these crashes pop up: 73e8fb64-d0f9-4be2-9c5f-310c3313a6e9 10/4/2015 6:03 PM 21cb12f7-f658-4976-9baf-3fe5bcd58e78 10/4/2015 6:03 PM bp-a83a747f-45e8-4c93-a3b8-af4da2151005 10/4/2015 6:00 PM bp-2f3617c3-159a-4d24-9a8d-bff172151005 10/4/2015 6:00 PM

Someone, please get back to me, even if to say I need to start using IE. I will laugh at you, but at least appreciate the attentiveness. Lee

I recently got a new computer set up. I set up a Sync account, to get all of my info over properly. Everything seemed to install fine, no problem. But my add-ons are acting funny. I can open Firefox a few times, no issue. All of my add-ons are active, in their proper places on my toolbars, everything. Then I open it, I go to look at my add-ons, and it tells me I have no extensions (but I still see those that I have shown on my toolbars (such as the buttons for a download manager, ad-block, session manager, personas, etc...) I close firefox, reopen it, and I have a dozen "install add-on" tabs pop up asking me if I want to install add-ons that I did have, until that moment, already installed. I de-selected the add-on sync feature, and thought everything was fine, but it did it again a good day after I had deselected that sync option, so not sure what it's doing. TL:DR- Firefox keeps swearing I don't have add-ons, even when I see them on my screen (just not in extensions tab), and restarting Firefox asks me to reinstall all add-ons I already had.

I had a lot of important tabs, and it has happened to me before that I lose them due to a crash, but I always managed to restore them going to folder sessionstore-backups and restoring to previous version there. Now what has happened to me is that I downloaded some software that contained a virus, and it installed program My browser automatically and closed Mozilla while I was working in it..next, after uninstalling that program I opened mozilla and all the tabs were gone without the option to restore previous session. I tried to restore them doing the thing I mentioned above, and there was (and is) the option to restore to the version from a few days ago in files previous.js and recovery.js; however, when i clicked on them and entered the firefox again, it was all the same - the old tabs weren't returned. I also tried installing the newest version and keeping the old version in distinct folder as I have seen that someone mentioned it could lead to a solution, but all in vain because I still can't return them. Can you help me finding any way to do it because I have a lot of important tabs I don't wanna lose (I'm used to working by opening a lot of new tabs and usually forgetting to bookmark them)? Thanx in forward! :)

Hello,

This has been asked and answered before here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1036802

But it DOESN'T work anymore... with FF 41.0.1

I have configured the homepage to show a precise URL but when opening a new tab I get an empty page with a "settings icon" where I can only choose to display an empty page OR the most visited sites... but I don't want either of this, I want the bloody FF to respect my settings and display MY homepage.

Any idea on how to fix this ?

Cheers,

Hello,

From today in the morning I cannot start the Firefox browser. It crashes on start up - I got directly a pop-up window with Mozilla Crash Report. Clicking on Restart option would open another Crash Report Window and so on.... Same in safety mode I have tried so far: 1. Clean de-installation (removing all the folders & mozilla files) 2. Downgrading until 38.0 version 3. Upgrading to 41.0.1 version 4. Restoring my Windows to an earlier time Nothing helps. Just after clean installation the Firefox opens, stays opened for about 2 seconds and closes without pushing any buttons. And than I got the Crash Report window, and another, another... I can only click on Close Firefox option. Summarising, I cannot open at all in any condition
