I have recently started encountering a problem accessing Google news links from my browsers (Firefox 39.0) and IE11 that involve a particular website – telegraph.co.uk. I keep getting the message Server Not Found. The long initial browser links to all other sites (Guardian, Reuters, FT, Daily Mail etc.etc) all resolve very quickly and show the required page….but not those to telegraph.co.uk. I can, albeit very slowly, successfully connect to telegraph.co.uk links via anonymox add-on proxy server – not ideal.
We have2 other laptops, another pc, 2 ipads and 4 iphones in the household and none of them have my issue. My PC runs Windows 7 Home Premium , running Norton Internet Security (220.127.116.11). I regularly run Norton Live updates and do full scans daily. I also run CCleaner daily and regularly perform Malwarebytes and Spybot scans (with browser immunisation updated).
I recently updated to this version of Norton Internet Security from previous version and this may be part of the problem although another pc and laptop also updated to same version and do not experience my problem. No evidence, that I can see, of telegraph.co.uk being “blocked”.
I have tried various “fixes”, unsuccessfuly, as follows:
1) We upgraded to fibre yesterday from ADSL and had to move to new router. I had hoped that this would fix my problem, but no. Re-set new router as well, but didn’t fix.
2) In Firefox Options, Advanced, Network I have tried:
a. Clearing cached web content
b. Clearing Offline web content and data
c. Also tried Clear history, recent history, everything
d. Connection settings were same as other pc: Use system proxy settings. I did try auto detect option but this did not fix. Have, for now, switched back to Use system proxy settings.
e. Tried Firefox reset, to no avail
f. Tried running Firefox in Safe mode with add-ons disabled, but did not resolve problem.
A fix to resolve this very frustrating issue would be gratefully appreciated.
