I have used the instructions for changing the new tab page. This did not change the start page. Do I need to close firefox for it to take affect? If so it is not in the instructions. I used to have a Google start page but now it is from Ask.com and that is useless for me. I get no good results from Ask. I tried changing to Google, I tried changing to blank, still it does not change. Any suggestions on what I can try?

Hi I am in the same situation as many others I have seen posting here. Shockwave flash is continually crashing to the extent it takes several minutes to get to the add-ons manager and disable shockwave flash. I have reinstalled all adobe plugins, so they are up to date. I am having real problems accessing a lot of web pages/web page content because with shockwave flash enabled firefox is all but frozen and with shockwave flash disabled a lot of web content isn't available.

I have looked at other threads that I found and have attempted all of the suggested solutions and have selected the Troubleshooting Information option below this text box. I have a huge list of crash reports, unfortunately I am not sure how to load them

Any suggestions appreciated

For some weeks now I have been having problems with both Firefox and Thunderbird. Neither will load. Sometimes I have been able to load once after a clean reinstall. I have tried: virus scanning and cleaning portable version on different computers (I use a portable version whenever possible but this has become an issue on static computers also) deletion of data folder

Just to rub salt in the wound, when the programs crash and I try to send a report, the error reporter says it is unable to send a report. Have not had time/patience to look into that.

I just updated Flash a week ago and already Firefox is prompting me to replace the update with the message "Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin Adobe Flash from running on" (etc.) How can I prevent Firefox (I'm using version 35.0.1) from running this check forever?

So, I've been having this issue for sometime now. I went through all the help pages, read through all the different ones on Mozilla support and Adobe's official forums, and I haven't been able to stop it from crashing.

It started around a month ago, and I've just been trying to deal with it, but it has gotten to a ridiculous level of hanging. It almost never crashes, but it hangs indefinitely making me have to end it in the process area of the Windows Task Manager. It hangs when I open a new tab, when I'm mid-video, when I just leave it for too long, and randomly whenever it feels like it. And each time it looks different.

WOW long time Mozilla Firefox user, but new update just keeps getting better and better ( NOT!) It took away my icons bookmarks etc, and started giving me forbidden access errors for websites and would not let me open sponsor links in Amazon, and would not let me re- download updated yahoo tool bar, and I could go on and on, but the point is: this was NOT beta version, its the real deal and all it is ends up being more trouble than its worth! WHY oh WHY must Mozilla update and yet make it all worse for it's users? I spent hours trying to find work arounds, etc, and finally have been forced to go back uninstall it and install the Mozilla 35 version that might not be perfect, but it works and so does all my stuff work in it. The other thing, I do the syncing, but that does not help get anything back and I do the mozbackup ( software program) but it would not fix the issues Mozilla firefox 36 has.

So I guess like many others, I will have to wait around till its been out awhile and see if same issues, then go back to 35 if all else fails. This is why I stayed so long on FF 17 or 19 anything to keep from updating, but I know I know, its about security blahblah blah... so i finally break down and update, but always always always to my dismay it takes me hours to get things back or get them right or lose them altogether frankly I wish there would be no final update until testing is really done, i know you can't help what add on's etc we have as there are so many, but beyond those crashes or not working add on situations, there are problems with this update ( and so many of them) so can you please fix them before you put this stuff out there for us to use???

As of today, February 9, 2015 I am unable to connect to my Verizon Fios home page. When I click on the Firefox icon to open the browser, my bookmarks appear, etc. bit it will not connect to My Verizon home page. I am able to go to all the web sites that I want to but I cannot connect to Verizon. I called Verizon but they weren't able to help me, unfortunately. I hope that someone here will be able explain how to resolve this.

I tried using Google Chrome and was able to connect to Verizon's Email and News, therefore, I presume that this is a problem with Mozilla Firefox.

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 'Firefox 35 to 36' and noticed that after a restart i was still logged into pages days later after reloading Firefox, and I have just tested on another laptop which is running Firefox 35 that this is not an issue and seems only to be an issue in Firefox 36.

I then realised this is a 'Massive Security Issue' and did a test logging into my bank account then closing down Firefox 36 and restarting my laptop and found that i was still actually logged into my bank account free to carry on banking as normal. - THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN NEEDS RECTIFYING ASAP !

Imagine the scenario of a user with basic knowledge using a public computer thinking that by closing down Firefox and the machine completely without clearing cookies they would be secure and totally logged out, but not the case and totally open to any other users to use the account to their advantage.

I personally have found a couple of work arounds for this which are:-

- When Firefox Starts: Show my homepage

- About:config - browser.sessionstore.privacy_level (user set 2)

I would appreciate a response regarding this as i see this as a major issue, and would like someone to acknowledge the problem.

There is a 120mb folder called "storage" in my profile directory which wasn't there before. The last time I checked was when I disabled disk cache some weeks ago (guess it may have to do). The Offline Web Content and User Data options seem irrelevant, so I would like to know what it is, and how to prevent it from being created, or at least growing so much. 106mb of it is in a "temporary" subfolder for unrealengine.com, but if it is temporary, why is it still there weeks after I visited that site? I'm just trying to minimize drive usage and occupation as much as I can without losing usability, so any other tips for that would be welcome.

Problem noticed since last week: boxy areas of pixels less than 1" sq flicker rapidly or stay white in Firefox windows, in a horizontal row maybe 7 inches from top of the window, generally maintaining the same pattern. At first I thought my monitor was going bad, but (a) the clusters do not appear so far in any other application and (b) they move exactly in synch with the Firefox window, on either my laptop screen or the attached second monitor. (Hmm - as I write this I notice a couple of other patches flickering at the top of the Firefox window, over the leftmost tab; the lower problem areas now appear stable.)

They occur - so far as I can tell, which is difficult unless the window is mostly dark - during internet actions such as requesting or receiving a new page, sometimes just with mouse motion, or sometimes with no activity on my part, generally lasting only a second or so but soon recurring.

The attached screen capture ("Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 4.59.05 PM.png") shows 4 examples of this - to the left of the "Christ at Emmaus" caption, obscuring most of the "Ephraim Bonus..." thumbnail, a lighter area just a bit to the right of that thumbnail, and part of an even lighter specimen at the edge of the Firefox window. (So far the "uploaded images" box displays only a rotating work-in-progress circle, so I can't tell if that image will upload along with this message... this may be because I had the image open in Preview at the time I clicked the upload button, but I see no way to abort and restart the process.)

Firefox will sometimes run fine for hours and if I watch the memory use in task manager, it normally uses 250 MB to 325 MD but then it starts to increase the memory use to anywhere from 2500 MB to even as high as 6000 MB and then it crashes. It seems to sometimes depend on what webpage I am on. I have also not been able to get Flash Player to install properly, it goes through the download and install process with no errors but when I look at the add-ons manager it doesn't show up.

I have done complete uninstalls and re-installs many times of both Firefox and Flash Player but it never does fix the problem.

After the last Firefox update, lots of bookmarks disappeared, and I tried to restore a .jsonlz4 file. On the bookmarks manager window I choose the file, click on the Open button, the notice asking if I want to replace all the bookmarks comes up and I click the OK button.

I wait a while before using the browser again, but as soon as I click anywhere on it, it stops responding. I wait to see if it responds. Sometimes it does (but the same happens again) or a notice for a script comes up and I click on Stop the script. I try to uses the browser and the same happens. I always have to end the process on the window or with Windows Task Manager.

I restart Firefox and notice that many bookmarks are back, but far from being all. Some are also repeated, and others on other folders and many on a different order (!). Then I try to restore the bookmarks on safe mode, but always getting the same result.

What is wrong, and how can I restore the bookmarks, please?

I have installed OneTab to my Firefox am unsure how it works as I can't find the icon/button/shortcut to access it. It is showing as 'Enabled' in the Extensions list.

I just downloaded the latest version of Mozilla and all of my bookmarks are gone! This has never ever happened to me before when I would update Mozilla. Where are my bookmarks? I am not happy with the deletion of my bookmarks. Am I tough out of luck or is there some magical way to restore the bookmarks that the update removed? Help!!! Thank you, Nadine

I've had this happen before and I've emailed and no-one got back to me.

There are some websites like Tumblr or recently this one https://www.codyapp.com/plans/true-strength-fundamentals where i try to view the video and the audio is mostly fine but the video stutters and stalls and continues.. it jumps a bit and I've updated all the software, cleared the cache, but can't seem to get it to work.

Could you please provide help?

It's become annoying. Firefox loses all my settings every time I close. YES, I have done a "Reset Firefox" and I've even installed a "New" copy. But every time I open the browser, it's back to "granola". The only way to restore my previous functions is to drop down the "Menu" and manually "Restore Defaults" to get back my Home Button and Search Bar but then I must also manually restore my Menu Bar and Bookmarks Toolbar. And if I want a Print icon, I have to manually drag it from the menu to the Toolbar. When I close my browser, all my work disappears and I have to start from scratch next time. If this is a new Firefox "feature", I want the OLD VERSION BACK.

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue within Firefox. I have used Firefox for so many years and just recently I started noticing that on some web pages there are little boxes with E6 followed by a series of numbers in place of icons or spaces. Attached is a screenshot of what I am talking about. I am curious if anyone else has seen this and if so does anyone know if there are plans to fix it?
